I beat warmech with 4 white mages, but I managed to get insanely lucky and got a preemptive strike when I encountered it. The odds of that happening a second time are probably not likely to happen again in my lifetime.

I remember the frustration, about 2/3rds of the way through the game, of having to figure out how to wake up that guy, before you could move forward. All you had to do was speak to him...and then wait...and he would notice you and wake up. My brother and I almost fell off the couch.

Coincidently bought this game during the first day of the 1991 Gulf War. The U.S. was going to attack Saddam, war was all over the news, I walked to this electronics shop in Lower Manhattan, they had Snake's Revenge on the shelf along with a few more NES games. The box art sealed the deal for me and inspired me to buy this game. I know it is not authentic Kojima but it was the best $20 bucks I ever spent on an NES game.

At 27:33 You write that you hoped the vampire axe would give life leech or something, but it seems to only be there for the achievment, but if you look at around 27:05, just after you got it, you can clearly see the HP meter going ever so slightly up when killing an enemy, and a few times more just after that, so it does in fact have life leech.

I never had the courage to use Jiang Wei as the tactician for An Sha. I was always afraid of Sima Yi using Wan Fu, so I used Zhuge Liang so I could cast Ce Mian. If you use Bei Ji (I think that's the tactic that increases attack power) and a power pill on Zhang Bao with the halbred equipped, he can deal upwards of 5000 damage.

Ce Mian is as scary as An Sha. It'll often wear off and break your fight. An Sha is also what had me get through a special challenge on RetroAchievementsdotorg where lots of Ce Mian user would give up.

@@HalDanGhor Yeah, Ce Mian's a roll of the dice. Sometimes it expires as soon as you use it, other times it lasts the entire fight. I would put that horse (Chi Tu Ma was it?) on a general and have him use Ce Mian to make sure it went off at the beginning of the round. That was the only way I could beat this fight.
