I only ever heard this once, in about 1986 on the BBC Essex alternative music show Revolver. It stuck in my mind ever since. Rather like the Funny GI’s nail.

I met Dora a few years ago. Charming, friendly, with no airs and graces. Typical northern lass!

The old TVS logo instantly transported me back to my youth!and so good to see Brighton when it was still a seedy, rundown seaside resort full of punks and squatters,before all the beautiful people showed up and sent prices through the roof, thanks for posting this little curio.

This is quite frankly amazing! I love this. I was born a couple of years after, so didn't have the conscious to attend. I did meet Dora though a couple of years later (may have been Hannington's grotto, not sure). Any chance of a reform?

Right after a wander its not the pav tav, from the inside the door would be on the left with two windows to the right. I'm convinced it's a hotel bar. Some on Facebook suggested the old ships old bar.

My friends had a couple of flats once they converted Dora Bryant's hotel Claridges into flats. One included the swimming pool in the basements, one had a pool on the roof.

@@dee_seejay Don't think it is, the seafront railings are not Brighton or Hove
@bradders39494 жыл бұрын
@@dee_seejay I'm sure the road crossing scenes are West Street and outside what was Burtons and is now Waterstones but I'm sure the seafront bit isn't Brighton. I'm adding to that the fact that the pub (if you look out the window of it) is on the seafront and In my thirty three years of daily drinking in Brighton have never stumbled accross this establishment. Nothing to say its not the modern "Brighton-that's-not-Brighton" e.g Shoreham, portslade etc...
@bradders39494 жыл бұрын
@@dee_seejay watching it again I think the bit where he crosses over from the road first (before the close up bit where we see Waterstones building in the background) is the bottom part of Queens Road by where that bookshop that looked like a bomb had gone off in it was. I think my work is cut out tommorow running around town!

After a long session on Brighton past forum, without any influence of it I can say I've clocked that spiral staircase a million times and realise where it is. On another subject oppinion is drawn as to which pub it is, the Pav Tav or the Albion in Hove

Don't remember club Savannah, though I would only 11 at the time of this video. Googling it shows it was in the old steine, anyone any ideas what it is now?

Savannah was a great soul and funk club. Went there in early 90's. Had two floors and fab DJ's.

HI There, I am trying to track down some footage of Archaos, can you help? I was interviewed for a documentary commissioned by the V+A a friend of mine is making and referenced Archaos a lot as being such a huge influence to the likes of me back in the day. Though there is a lot of stuff on line we have had little response in terms of getting permission for something we can use, as the troupe were / are such an inspiration to the more underground side of Circus I would really like them to feature in this doc which is looking at the 250 years of Circus in the Uk, for me Archaos were a major catalyst and broke all the rules / boundaries, let me know if you can help as time is short to source footage. please email Sky Direct if you can help [email protected] - many thanks Doug Francisco
