Yet another Vierne masterpiece excellently interpreted by Mr. Cook. Bravo and thank you. Amazing how good the hauptwerk sounds. I could have been in a cathedral.

Absolutely incredible. Daniel’s incredible talent shines through as always and no matter what instrument, large or small, he brings a flawless performance. There’s nothing better than hearing Daniel live and I hope he will return to the Edinburgh area in the future. Thank you as always Daniel for sharing your skill and enviable talent.

WOW! What a fabulous performance! Alec Rowley wrote so beautifully for the organ, and such a glorious, English sound that is perfectly suited to the Father Willis Salisbury sample set in all its powerful majesty as well as its gentle tenderness (that purring 32' at the end!). Bravo, Daniel - I am subscribed!

This was an improvisation performed 'on the spot' by GTB to fill a slot in a BBC radio broadcast. Luckily it was recorded and later transcribed.

Prachtige uitvoering: gespeeld vanuit de melodische lijnen, eenvoudig, zonder gedoe, met af en toe een licht rubato. Het is precies wat deze muziek hebben moet.

Thank you so much for sharing this performance. Beautifully performed! You may just think that it is part of the performance but your piston changes are remarkable - not just the piston diminuendo but all the other changes as well. I both enjoyed and learned a lot from watching and listening.

I try to rotate my hands with the figurations to avoid any collisions but I agree it’s a bit of a pain.

Thanks for sharing this. Ive just learned this piece and am playing it locally in a recital on Saturday. I’m also waiting for my new Hauptwerk system to arrive (hopefully in the next few weeks) and Salisbury is to be my main sample set, so this recording has given me much to aspire to, thanks again Daniel.

The late Dr Francis Jackson, organist emeritus of York Minster, recorded the complete organ works of his organ teacher Edward Bairstow, at York Minster. He stated that he performed each piece in accordance to Bairstow’s intentions in both tempo and registration. Dr Jackson, who I personally knew and had met on a few occasions, often received requests from Organists for advice on performance details when preparing to include a composition by Bairstow in a recital especially at York Minster. Incidentally, the major rebuild of the organ at York Minster by Harrison’s of Durham, has returned the instrument to more like how Bairstow knew it so his compositions could be performed even more authentically if played according to his tempo and specified registration directions. I await to hear whether a new recording of his works following these lines, will be made, perhaps by one of the prestigious organists presently in residence at York Minster.

Something made me wonder, from your performance, whether you had received any guidance from Dr Jackson. He and Bairstow have to go down in history as legends in Organists / Composers. I knew him and met him on many occasions. He used to relate how meticulous and no nonsense Bairstow could be. But he obtained results
