Age limits make zero sense in my opinion. I would believe that having “irregular fingers” is a problem for 27+ yo people if a 30 yo neurosurgeon was considered too old as well. But that’s not the case. People are living 100+ years and at 30 they have to find something else to do because they’re“too old”. 🙄

Hi Vanessa! Thank you so much for all your videos on studying music in Germany! I am a performance vocalist from America looking to do my masters in Germany or Switzerland because of the rich musical culture and great teachers there. Plus, it is much more afforded than university in America. My trouble is I'm not sure where to look. I'm hoping to find a university where I can study music performance with theatre as some of my side subjects or perhaps even musical theatre. Do you have an recommendations on where to look or perhaps where to find a good list of the universites in Germany? Thank you so much again!

Hi! That sounds very exciting! There are a few universities that offer musical theatre in Germany, but I am not really an expert. Here is a list of all the Music university’s in Germany: uni-sono.org/klassikland-deutschland/musikhochschulen/ . You might also like the new Minor/Major Modell at Zhdk, which is quite interesting, as you can put together your own studies. For music theatre there are also a lot of private schools in Germany like the prestigious Stage school in Hamburg, but it they have no master program. I hope I could help! Wishing you all the best!

Thank you very much for the valuable info. I’ve a question, I want to do a masters in “film music” and/or music for visual media … are there any Unis that offer that masters? Thanks 🙏🏻
@vanessaharp3 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes there are some! Zhdk offers this master or Filmuniversität Babelsberg. Hope that helps! Wishing you all the best!

Hi Vanessa. That was a great video, thank you for showing us the inside of ZHDK, it was indeed beautiful. I'm applying for an MA in Theatre this year and I would love to see a video on what student life is like, cost of living and what kind of part time jobs one can find. Thank you.

Thank you for the informative video! May I know if lessons/ lectures/ consultation with professors are done in german or do they offer alternatives for english speaking students. If they are in german, what about those Universities that do not require B2 language.
@vanessaharp5 ай бұрын
Hi! It depends on the teacher but normally every teacher speaks English, so consultation lessons in English should be no problem at all. Best wishes!

1. do not compare yourself to others 2. refect 3. have at least 2 hobbies besides of music (thank you soooo much for this tip Vanessa!) 4. social life- find some set time for social activities I really love those tips and how they not only focus on music making but also mental health and other areas of life! I had my first severe music burnout last year, so goal for 2024 is to find sustainable ways of learning music (idk how to word it in English) and this video is really really just what I needed- thank u<3

Hi Vanessa, I enjoyed watching this video I'm currently looking at university's now because I'm in my last year of college. I'm hoping to carry on with acting and music production. Could you tell me from your point of view what the university is like.

Even if it's about the course that your taking and what is involved within the course, I hope this makes sense.

Hi Tiffany! I am glad you enjoy my videos! Guildhall is a very nice university with a lot of opportunities during the school year. For my course I had a lot of individual lessons in my main instrument harp, we also had group lessons in harp, workshops, Masterclasses, a lot of concert opportunities and orchestra concerts as well as opera productions. I have to say it was really a lot and you do not get bored studying there! Also there is not really a campus, as the university is located directly in the City of London, which is also very cool. It is a great way to get to know this vibrant city!

Thanks for the detailed info Vanessa. So basically if one doesn't play piano, but just play one string instrument, there is no chance for me to be able to study music in Germany, right?
@vanessaharp9 ай бұрын
Only Masters is possible without piano. In your Bachelor studies you have to play and you have to play at the entrance exam. Wish you all the best ❤

Hello Vanessa! Would you happen to know anything regarding the Masters entrance exams for Hanns Eisler?
@vanessaharp Жыл бұрын
Hi Luis! For masters you normally just have an entrance exam in your main subject an no other compulsory exams (like ear training or piano). There are sometimes exceptions though, so check the website! Hope that helps! wish you all the best, Vanessa :)
