Back in the day of WERA Endurance racing Grattan was one of my favorite tracks to race.

@Zenandtheart-cb2qi13 күн бұрын
Thank You!. The bike had ~11000 miles on it when I did the clearances. One of the valves was out of spec, but many were close to the limit. I would advise doing it earlier, maybe 6K miles.

Just post up videos for the sake of doing so if you enjoy doing/making them. Like me. Are you planning on going to Grattan on 9/21-22? I might be there again! Dude you need to go to MID OHIO too, love that track, they got a 99% repave 1 yr ago!!!

Yup, Just like making and sharing them! Have been planning to go to mid Ohio for a while now, saw your video of the track day there! I probably won't be at Grattan since I'm doing the Autobahn the weekend after.

Instead of buying the torque extension, could you just use the 13mm spanner and set a 1/2 torque wrench on the other end of the spanner at 90 degrees? Wouldn’t this give you the same effect as the extension? A 1/2 torque wrench sets perfectly in the wrench head. What do you think?
@Zenandtheart-cb2qi2 ай бұрын
If the spanner is at 90 degrees, no reason you couldn't do that!

Thanks for the kind words! I figured it is really easy to look up a coolant flush on KZbin and I wouldn't be adding a whole lot of value by doing another one. If folks really want one I would be happy to do it however.

Did you measure your clearances before ordering the valve shim kit?
@Zenandtheart-cb2qi3 ай бұрын
That would have been the intillegent thing to do, LOL. But no, I bought a shim kit in the range I expected to need and then ended up ordering a few individual shims once I found out I needed more of one specefic shim.

My Aprilia mechanic actually showed me that you do not have to remove throttle bodies to do this job. You just need to remove the injectors and injector rails. The entire job can be done with throttle bodies in place.
@Zenandtheart-cb2qi3 ай бұрын
Yup, I was aware of this. Since this was my first time doing it, I just wanted to have more space to work. It's a lot harder with the throttle bodies in place though.

Ive not done this yet myself, but, in hindsight would it not be easier to install the rear TBs first, so you can access the boot clamps from the front then install the front TBs and you can also access their boot clamps from the front? Good work though ....
@Zenandtheart-cb2qi6 ай бұрын
Not sure it is possible to install them in reverse order, but I haven't tried. The manual says to follow the order I did.

Nice to see someone else makes the effort to clean up the working area before starting the job. Takes time but is so worth it. Getting the TBs off is a major faff but well done. Hopefully its not too bad getting them back on. Fortunately I only need to remove the front set in order to get at and remove the SAI junk. Enjoyed watching your work ....
