From my point of view, Dr. Dawkins believes that years of evolution resulted in the emergence of consciousness through neural networks formed by particles, essentially, while Dr. Deepak acknowledges that this capacity for consciousness existed from the beginning of the universe. From my perspective, consciousness cannot be created or destroyed; therefore, the ability to be conscious has accompanied us since the origin of this universe and will remain with us after this universe; I want to make it clear that I am not referring to a religious paradise or Heaven, but rather to Consciousness itself and its independence from the human brain.

Richard excels in insults which he uses to hide his ignorance of the subject matter. Deepak excels in knowledge of the subject matter & gives far better than he gets. The narrator is correct, this is not a debate, I'll add it's a poorly planned meeting of listening to great stuff while takung in very little of it based on the square peg, round hole nature.

I think Deepak has a very good point. We know very little about consciousness and i think it's good to be open about it. What drove evolution ? It was consciousness. Do you really think consciousness is the product of evolution ? I don't think so. Consciousness was guiding it, by awareness, by responding to the environment. Now, we don't know how this works in the grand scale of things, but Deepka is honestly trying to give it an explanation. Deepak is the one being patient. By the way I am a biochemist , i know the good real science
@scorp10fl5329 күн бұрын
I don't agree with you. Consciousness is a part of evolution. An integral part of it is memory. Part of the evolutionary process also includes selective mutations in the DNA which impart such things as emotions and responses to stimuli. And memory serves to exact emotions and responses from previous experiences. Prof. Sapolsky has done a lot of work on this very topic. To most people evolution is generaly limited to physiological changes. But things like altruistic behaviour and compassion were selectively beneficial leading to social development and were the result of slight mutations in the gene pool. And these attributes arose from changes in the alleles.
@pedroramos547725 күн бұрын
@@scorp10fl53 i don't agree. You talk about memory and selective mutations, but who or what operates these changes/processes ? What's behind the "memory serves to exact emotions and responses from previous experiences" ?? Consciousness. Besides, from what you said, I'm not sure you quite understand the meaning of consciousness. Consciousness is not emotions and responses or memory, consciousness is the entity, in which emotions and responses operate. In meditation jargon, is called the observer. So, consciousness is something that exists even before life as we know it exists. This goes with what Deepak was talking about, of how little we know about the universe, and what really composes it.
@scorp10fl5325 күн бұрын
@@pedroramos5477 First, you can ignore Chopra. He's in another world. Consciousness is the awareness of one's surroundings. And without memory you cannot recall anything related to your being conscious. No one operates mutations. They are a result of copying errors during the reproductive process. To ask me what operates the changes shows your lack of understanding of molecular biology and genetics. Your experience of anything...be it fear, pain, pleasure, colour etc. is consciousness. You are the observer and your memory is necessary to support the observations you make. After all, if you can't remember what you heard or saw them you weren't conscious of it. Consciousness is an attribute of being. It only exists when you do. The universe does not have consciousness. Stop listening to Chopra.
@pedroramos547725 күн бұрын
@@scorp10fl53 Completely disagree, you are probably a fresh graduate who hadnt had the time to dwelve in your own consciousness. As I said before, consciouness is an entity that we still can not really explain, that exists even before life as we know it exists. It does not exist only "when you do", it is always there, its prime essence is the same now as it was in the begininig of life in the evolutionary process and everything else. Certain aspects of what you say are right like pain, pleasure, Im just taking a step back and basically saying that consciouness is not a product of mutations, consciouness exists before genetics. It might be too big an idea to take in. Memory is still a poorly understood biological phenomenon of the brain, that helps out with with other biological phenomenons. Consciousness and memory are not the same, there seems to be a confusion there
@scorp10fl5325 күн бұрын
@@pedroramos5477 I'm not saying memory is consciousness. I'm saying memory is an integral part of consciousness. With it you can't realize any thing you've been conscious of Consciousness is an emergent phenomenon of life. It does not exist without the capacity for awareness. The universe is not aware of anything. Awareness exists in living nonsessile forms and loosely defined it could include plants. If you assert consciousness exists beyond living things you must provide evidence.

Saludos
