I love that the skateboarding volunteers in this video are of different generations. In addition to adults teaching youth, there are young girls helping even younger girls and also teaching adults.

I admire her passion. My family LOVES to cook and spend time together. My parents owned a restaurant for many years and I learned so much from them. Those were truly the most magical times in my life. My dad passed away in 2022 and my dear mother will be 80 years old next month. She still likes to get in the kitchen from time to time and whip up something amazing. ❤

I love what they do to help people in need. But as someone who is concerned about the amount of plastic bags we use and its impact on our environment over the long term, I really hope we can work out a way to cut down on the use of plastic bags. I also hope all the schools including our school district can limit the use of disposable forks, etc. I just don't think that's sustainable.
@roadtripnation15 күн бұрын
That's a great point! And if we learned anything from the students in this series, it's that you CAN create that change in your community, or at your school, or even within your entire school district! Maybe that means doing research on plastic alternatives and writing a letter to your school board; maybe it means starting a club that helps teach students how to cut down on their plastic usage. If you care deeply about something, there are other people out there who feel the same way and will rally behind you, guaranteed-you just have to take action!

I watch a lot of Road Trip Nation videos because I am really interested in what they are doing. This series on youth volunteers is particularly great. As a geezer (77 years old), I'm not going to jump up and join one of these groups in the videos, but I do admire them and it gives me faith that the future of volunteerism is in good hands. Go for it young folks! Keep letting the world know RTN!

Ah, the big green RV. I remember my first time ever seeing it as a bright eyed freshman in high school on a field trip to Concordia University in Irvine. I got to meet a lot of amazing people back then. Your videos bring back memories of doing the workbook and online assignments during AVID in my freshman year of high school. Feels like a trip down memory lane after over a decade. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series. Keep up the amazing work, Roadtrip Nation!

That shop mechanic is full of half truths. I’m a driver and I’ve seen some of the stresses they deal with. Being a mechanic ain’t easy unless you got someone running behind you fixing what you can’t fix and running cover for you. If not you’re gonna have some hella tough days in that field physically and mentally. Mechanics are constantly damn to school also to keep on top of new headaches the engineers create annually.

This is true, but applying to seven art schools is NOT a lot, and often times its not even a reflection of your art skills. Schools are very competitive nowadays, and they all also have a certain aesthetic of art they want to teach to students. I appreciate the message that, yes, it is possible to succeed and grow from rejection, but I do not agree with her spite against art schools because of their rejection.
