Awesome keyboard. Built like a tank so only great for gigging if you have a road crew.

I have the MP7SE and in no way does the SK Grand sound like it does in this video. It sounds much more wooly and muddy sounding tone and I'm not the only person to have noticed this. For some reason in youtube videos the SK sounds brighter and cleaner than it is in the flesh. I spoke with someone else who noted the same. So either some post processing is going on, or Kawai altered the sample onboard on later models shipped. The only way I have found to slightly improve the SK is by altering the setting in virtual technician. For this reason I find the EX to be better.

Got mine last weekend complete with stand and nord monitors. I am basically an acoustic pianist with occasional needs for gigs and keyboards but moving into a flat. All the stuff said is true the action us very convincing, the sounds too but as with every new piano it takes a little getting used before it becomes your norm. One thing not said enough about the North Grand is the quality of the upright sounds. I find them more realistic than the grands. Another thing not said enough is how good it looks in a room. Finally the angled panel is a bit of a problem as it is very easy to hit a button by mistake. Perfect for my needs and with the Grand 2 on the way now is a good time to find good deals on the Grand 1.

Thanks to you I ordered one and I don't even know how to play. LOL. Well, I've always wanted to learn so hopefully it's not too late for a 70 year old man. Thanks for the review.

Great review, mate! As a KORG dealer and long time fan of the brand, it's a real shame most people in the US are not willing to spend the money on one of these. Over here they go for $750. I usually end up selling for under $700 to finally get rid of them. Never make the money I'm supposed to. I still believe in the brand and their great line of digital pianos. Ty

Hey there! Great video! I really like this piano too and I’m trying to use it for recording purposes.. I’m pretty novice at piano and midi instruments.. I’m super frustrated though.. I have tried a bunch of times to figure out how to get it to record via USB cable but the only thing that happens is that it winds up playing the recording on the keyboard speakers.. I have tried a bunch of stuff in both Cakewalk and Reaper and I cannot get the piano to record or play through my headphones. I am a skilled amateur at recording and feel like I’ve tried everything. Can you offer any suggestions? (This also goes for other commenters as well)

The good about it is it doesn't have organ and synth sounds. The rh1 keybed is not a work horse it Breaks.

If you can, get the Nord grand and Yamaha YC 61, and put the YC 61 atop the Nord and you’ll have the best of both worlds

I wish some (not all) manufacturers would put the bloody headphones socket at the front and not the back! If your headphones cable is standard length you have the same annoying situation as seen in this video, cable hanging on your arm and getting in the way. With that out of the way, the Nord grand is a wonderful piano but overpriced. Even though it has Kawai action RH3 you can get the Kawai MP11se with their wooden key action for around £500 UK less with more features. Or buy the mp7se for £1000 UK less with the rh3 action. So, sorry Nord but you are way out on pricing for the Nord grand imo. Why pay more for less!
@jonos138

Doing more research. It seems the nord grand doesnt have the RH lll action, but just a customised RH action. Makes sence, i mean why would Kawai give nord their best RH action? So that makes it even more over priced. And with the Grand 2 Now out, with another1k slapped on top, they are really taking us for a ride, with little change between 1 and 2. Its a great looking piano, but suffers the same keybed problems as other brands. So what are we really paying all this extra for?

Why is it more expensive than ES920 ?? What's the feature difference with ES920 and this? And why does it look so big and heavy, but on the website it shows its weight is same as the 920, or perhaps I am wrong, kindly confirm.

I was rather disappointed by the Korg B2, though the lightly weighted keys are not bad at all. However, the sound is quite poor. The Yamaha NP-32 and even the NP-31 are WAY superior in terms of sound quality.

Guarda tengo il kawai mp11se. Migliore piano digitale secondo me in assoluto. Molto pesante certamente ma il piano è la tastiera sono eccezionali. Questa tastiera del piano Nord lo provata ma non è per niente uguale a quella del kawai mp11se di cui si dice che è la stessa. Assolutamente no!!! Sarà kawai ma non è quella del piano kawai mp 11se

just found this review and have to say it's the best one I've found. Thanks so very much for your time. I've had a MP-7 for a few years now and love it, the action is 2nd to none for my money. I'm curious didn't know Kawai put out MP-7 SE, I've always wanted some more sounds maybe better piano but don't want to have to go through using computer hook up or whatever to obtain them. Would you recommend this keyboard as an upgrade from the MP-7 which I have or just stay with mine? I also learned some things from watching your video about mixing and effects, thanks so very much great help.

You’re the first reviewer I’ve seen that actually plays the instrument so that I could get an idea of tone. I recently bought an Artesia PA-88H + and I’m a little concerned about how “strident” it sounds. I’ve rolled off as much treble as I can, and boosted the bass as much as I can…but I’m not getting the “warm” sound I’m looking for, plus the organ sounds are only Church Organ or Organ, again not what I’m looking for. Do you have any suggestions on achieving the sound I’m after? I almost bought a Koro B2 Black for a little more than what I paid for the artesia, but the Korg could not be shipped from Queensland to Victoria by JB Hi Fi. Would appreciate it if you could reply.

Dude, I wanted a "pow" intro to this electronic piano that would lead me to stop drooling over the Roland FP-30X (with a bigger price tag) I kept saying "it doesn't look like the Korg is better" but your review changed my mind big time. I'm absolutely impressed with the tones... But I don't want a piano for playing "games" we already have 3 that have hundreds of tones..I was just wondering if I really needed the Roland's bells and whistles and it doesn't justify the larger price tag, heck no! Drooling over the Korg now and counting my pennies for when I'm ready to get it. 😊

7:32 You do not need an audio interface device or drivers to record music onto your computer This was big, i just ordered it and thought this would be an issue. I'm a complete beginner so thought it would be nice if i could send records to a friend of mine or even play live online. This makes it much more simpler!

That action… played one for a few minutes yesterday and wow, really liked it. My .02, great product but $$. The Grand may be a great option for the piano-only musician who needs a no compromise digital instrument for studio/apartment/home use (never gets moved).

I went to a music shop and I saw tried to play every single keyboward over 30 keyboards and when I tried this I played for over 20min non stop The way it feels iv never played anything that feels so premium yet not heavy but expensive feel and easy to play and not to mention the sound quality Btw is there any other keyboard that has similar feel? Like a different nord or Roland or any more portable or cheaper one? And how much does this weigh? Cos if it’s not super heavy this might be the ultimate keyboard of all time
