You should try and locate an electric motor, then attach a water wheel to it. Once completed, you can construct a water turbine to assist in power the home. You could run a few lightbulbs if installed correctly. Although you could build an electric hydro dam with an old washing machine also. I guess that would be a pretty big project though.
