I was there as a Ken Dodd most of it was a load of Bollocks, we was outside the Wimpy Bricklayers Arms on the following Monday telling each other pork pies about what we got up to and the sorts we got hold of. Mind you they were great times

As the commentary says, a Non-Event blown wildly out of proportion by the shabby British press. Two hundred quids, worth of damage ! That's like dropping a tea-set !

I was only 11 in 1964, so too young to play an active part in the original Mod movement and I felt just a bit too old to throw myself into the 70s revival. However, Mod is a sensibility and now approaching 72, I feel just as much a Mod as ever. I still wear my parka, Fred Perry polo shirt, Sta-Prests and Gola Harriers and occasionally get a nod from a brother that tells me Mod will never die, at least not until we do. The music endures of course, because it was quality then and now.

I have a strange feeling these reports (over two weekends!) by a bored bank holiday press will be drummed into clueless sociology students by their clueless teachers as some watershed in British cultural history. It wasn’t. Fights between bored groups had been going on for decades. Not that it matters as your degree is worthless anyway.

I just found out about "moral panics" due to the Wikipedia entry on "muslim grooming gangs uk" being changed to a moral panic despite their being about 4000 victims so far. Is it not just a tool of the left to attempt to change the rhetoric of an event?

Not all totalitarian governments were communists like the Soviet and China. The south of the USA (a capitalist country), during the 1800s and 1900s used to be a totalitarian government with the southern congressmen, segregation, and the Jim Crow laws as dictatorship

Funny how a "mod" in 2020 is someone who moderates a Facebook group from behind a screen. I'm one myself haha, but it's not quite as courageous pursuit as what these fellers was up to in the Sixties to say the least! How times have changed so much :)

The schism between the subcultures was instigated by the media and it caused not only tensions between Mods and Rockers but all cults thereafter. Before the media created the friction, both sets were rub-along tolerant. There is a not bad documentary on here somewhere where mods and rockers attest to this media manipulation. By the time the next bank holiday was upon them battle lines had been drawn. The original incidents at Clacton resulted in a few broken windows on the pier and were borne out of boredom and lack of amenities for young people. Basic English shitty attitude to youth and seasonal facilities and everything closing at 11pm..Cynical press, as per fucking usual! Usual story - Divide and conquer. The authorities love it. ADVICE - KIDS UNITE, and have some power!

From the standpoint of anthropology, this is simply male conduct to thin the herd It happens everywhere. Viewed broadly, in the USA they're called street gangs. (male-physical violence-peripheral crimes). In the African bush, tribes are fighting over dirt. They've been fighting over rubble in the middle east for a thousand years at least. All other animals do it too.

They don't seem to mention that USSR and China weren't and never were communist. It's also important that the Russian secret police were formed in response to foreign pressure. One would also find that alot of communists support democracy, (of which I am one).
