@@RamblinTed Yes definitely - the older the Cemetery the more interesting I think. Thankyou Ted for your Great Comment. 👍

Along the side of this cemetery, along the fence on the school side are some of the earliest burials in the unmarked graves, including of Mr Brown (who was found dead in the lane way leading into the cemetery, and wasn't claimed by his family (its said his ghost is one of a few haunting this cemetery)). Tpr Arthur Thomas was in the army (Mounted Infantry I believe) and sadly was killed in the Boar War. If like Pte Fredrick Anderson from WW1, at Nerang he may (MAY) not physically be buried there, but his family put his name on the stone as a place they could come to morn and remember him.

@@jezzeronthecoast Thankyou Jezzer for sharing that information - I enjoy finding out about the stories of people buried in the Cemeteries. That is sad that no one claimed Mr Brown. Thankyou Muchly. 👍

@@karenhawkes4685 Any time. It's good to see videos on Southport. Mr Brown was interesting, Brown probably wasn't his real name but was one that the media sort of gave him due to his hair, clothes etc. It is sort of sad really. Likewise I believe that when the tram was being constructed there where multiple sets of remains found under where the tracks are now (a fee had to be paid to bury a person in the cemetery, so the families who where unable to afford the fee buried them in the ground outside (before it was as built up as it is now))
@karenhawkes46858 күн бұрын
@@jezzeronthecoast You are Welcome Jezzer - I enjoy the stories & History. I am glad you like the videos. Oh, were there graves where the Tram now goes? Did the Council reuse the Cemetery land?
@jezzeronthecoast8 күн бұрын
Apparently not, these where unofficial burials by those who couldn't afford alto bury there family officials so they did it them selves outside the cemetery (I don't know if true but it's the story I heard)
