Hey incredible job on Be More Chill! I’m trying to find the sheet music to learn it. How did you find it?
@smalldrums928910 ай бұрын
I received the drum book from a local theatre company that had a license to do a run of shows here.

Thanks for sharing! I've been on Hiatus from drumming for a bit and was listening to the Matilda soundtrack today when revolting children stuck out to me! So I was happy to find this! Thanks!!!

Where did u get the samples u used?
@smalldrums92892 жыл бұрын
Combination of built in sounds on the Octapad and just googled / youtubed the other sounds to load onto the DTX

@@smalldrums9289 cool cool, also did u do the timpani and glock parts? I’m in a production of this with a small bandz
@smalldrums92892 жыл бұрын
We also had a small band but I think the Glock stuff was on keys 2. If there's anything really important to be covered I can always use the Octapad for that and things like timpani parts.
@sammygonzalezdrumsttb2 жыл бұрын
Can I ask what songs did you use timpani sounds on?

@small Drums.... I am getting ready to play this show. Looks like you are playing 1up 1down for your kit configuration. I also have the DMX 12-Multi. What did you use for amplification? I see the small mixer. Were you using an on stage amp or where you run into the house sound?
@smalldrums92892 жыл бұрын
Yup, 1 rack tom and a floor tom. I use my own speaker and mixer to monitor the pads myself so that I am guaranteed to hear them.

Thank you for sharing Matilda the Musical Drum Cam. It's very inspiring. I wish I found your channel and learned from the videos before I learned and played the Matilda drum cover.

Wait. This is on stage instead under.

I believe they had us on stage to raise the pit floor to stage level which created enough area to safely rig the swings in "When I Grow Up." We just assumed they wanted to show off the amazing band, but at the end of the run we were told not to get used to it for future productions 😂

Is the MTI version of the score? Because it does not sound like it
@smalldrums92893 жыл бұрын
I believe it was, but we had a smaller band for it, so you might not be hearing all the parts from the score.

what sounds are you triggering via the drum pad at the overture at the very start?
@smalldrums92894 жыл бұрын
Hey, at the beginning, I had some weird sounding samples on the SPD, but so did the keys 1 and 2 and the trumpet player even had a sample to trigger. All of the sounds came with the license for the show I believe.

I just got booked to play drums for this show in late March/early April. Looks like you're doing all the drum kit electronically.
@smalldrums92894 жыл бұрын
Apologies for missing this comment! Did your show go ahead after? It was a bit of an experiment in volume management for me, as we were in a smaller room (approx. 100 seats) and the band was set up in a side balcony in the audience. The show calls for a lot of open hi-hat playing, so I decided to try to do it all electronically on a Roland Octapad (just used the stock sounds) and I used the SPD to trigger the samples that came with the show license.
