Melissa can people who developed schizophrenia relatively early in life (early mid 20s) ever find love or date? Is it integral for us to tell the person we might date about our condition on the first date? I am a well presenting person with schizophrenia. I have lost several years to it and feel i could start living my life again now as i did receive medication for it. Is it forgivable for me to withhold information from the people i like? For how long?

Another reason to legalize death with dignity. It’s terrifying to realize that there is zero help for any of us at the end. We are forced to die slowly in demented fear.

I'm crying right now cuz my dad is in late stage and he just started clenching his jaw and grinding teeth very hard and we don't know what to do 😔
@MelissaBPhD3 күн бұрын
If he can chew gum safely, that may stop the grinding - at least while he’s chewing the gum.

Thank you. I'm 58 and my brain looks like a 95 year old dementia patient. I also have a very rare genetic disease called Schwartz Jampel. Dr.'s do not know if this is related. In 2018 I had moderate white matter lesions. Now it is severe. I got healthy. Lowered my BP. Lost a lot of weight. My Dr said there is nothing more I can do. But today I forgot what year this was.

Thank you for your information. What is residential care? I can’t take care of my self any more and I have no family support. For some reason I don’t qualify for assisted living either. I’m in a world of hurt and no where to go.
@MelissaBPhD10 күн бұрын
Residential care would typically be for a person receiving Medicaid. I'd recommend contacting your local Area Agency on Aging (eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Index.aspx - enter your zip code) and they will be able to help you find resources and the housing option that you qualify for and can afford.

I wish it wasn’t allowed. My child has been to so many psychiatric nurses and none of them could help her. They shouldn’t be allowed to put Dr in front of their names. Why not just become a real psychiatrist.
@MelissaBPhD10 күн бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to, except that you may have seen a Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a DNP. They are able to use the title of "Dr" as a clinical terminal degree, the same as PharmD's and other professions. I hope you're able to get the help your daughter needs - but it sounds like you do need to seek out a psychiatrist or psychiatrist with expertise in whatever issue you are dealing with. Best wishes in getting it resolved.

It is draining it’s going to take years off of my f- life and this person doesn’t even appreciate it because number one she would not appreciate it beforehand, even before she lost her mind..I need more videos of support for the caregiver GD! All you wanna do all this is so sad for the person who lost their mind. The person who’s cleaning up their excrement on the floor that person doesn’t deserve this… I don’t wanna hear another word from you if it’s not in support of better health for the caregiver, not sympathy for the person who is no longer mentally here.

We live in South Africa. My biological father has vascular dementia. He is treated by a psychiatrist of good repute. Neuro imaging has been done however we have not seen the imaging as there are very few psychiatrists neurologists in RSA, so appointments are very few and very pricey. I have a psychiatric psychology background. My father is on dorminoct memor and an antipsychotic. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Sue from South Africa

I have a client who recently fell. He has parkinsons and we used to walk 1 mile a day with me next to him. Now he can't do much of anything. We're starting to see signs of dementia. How long does the dementia usually take to get serious enough so he needs 24/7 1 on 1 care

Actively dieing? No answer to that!!!😅
@theaffirmativecarnivoreАй бұрын
So, with the Mediterranean diet, it recommends 45%-65% carbs. How is this helpful in producing ketones in someone who has insulin resistance? I just don't understand how the Mediterranean diet could be the best recommendation, especially when the Ketogenic and/or Carnivore diets will keep you in a state of ketosis and possible reverse insulin resistance in the same way it reverses type 2 diabetes. I know this was posted over a year ago and a lot of things have been discovered since, so with that, do you still agree with the Mediterranean diet being the best chance at slowing down Alzheimer's Disease?

30-40 years exposure to refined carbs and vegetable seed oils. Eating 3-5 times a day keeping your insulin levels high does play a part in this - look when the 1st case was reported then look whats happened with our food

Very good. I like the way she gave examples between what appeared to be a path of non-normacy compared to normal aging. Yeah I'm 81 and have noticed things like this: Whose that guy that was always bitching about losing his hair on The Today Show? Well I came up with it on my own (Matt Lauer) but it took me a few to pull his name atta my brain because of course he hasn't been around for awhile now in the public eye. Whereby 20 years ago I would have remembered his face attached to his name instantly because I've always been very good with that relationship.
