Freightliner sells one best shocks for trucks, I forgot the brand it original $120ish and on my truck never replaced them sold it 650K miles. There KZbin video the same shock last 1 million miles.

On my 2003 Newmar motorhome on a freightliner XC chassis my fuel gauge doesn't move. I was thinking it was a fuel level sensor but was wondering if it could be these stepper motors. I need to figure out how to test the furl gauge. Thanks for posting.

When you key on your motor home, do the gauges sweep. Specifically, the fuel gauge, if they don't, then more than likely, it's a stepper motor since the rest are working, I assume.

@@Trugginglife I went out and checked and none of the gauges sweep. It's a 2003 Freightliner XC chassis (class A motorhome). What year is your truck? In the on position the voltage gauge works, as well as the 2 air tank gauges. The RV only has 54k miles on it but it is 21 years old. Thanks for any info.

I would check the fuses for instrument cluster it might be something as simple as a blown fuse. The air tank gauge is not electric it's driven by air pressure that's why it works and battery gauge might be wired direct to batt. So in my opinion I don't think it's a stepper motor because all of them aren't sweeping. I would also check all your batt grounds and positive wire make sure they are clean and secure. Without physically looking at it is hard to diagnose.

The best tape for wiring harnesses is Tesa tape. It is a cloth tape that has great abrasion resistance and is designed for wiring harness usage.

Although you are correct I can care less about being a owner operator what I care about is making money. The point i was trying to make was to buy your truck either outright or financed in your name so you have options to move your equipment where u want it. Whether that be leasing to a company or your own mc.

I would purchase them new. The ones on video actually failed like a week ago the ones from used unit so I purchased new ones u can search this: VDO Metal Shaft STEP / STEPPER MOTOR they should come up assuming u have same cluster.

Nobody changes the fluid like they should either. Once a year regardless of operation. Don't worry about getting a full drain. Get what you can out of the reservoir and move on.

good job, these days we have bunch of steering holders and mr automatic and bunch of ladys who dont know who to change a light bulb, good days are gone if you dont know some mechanical work get ready to bend over, most mechanics are crooked as biden but they have big tools they can stick it to you in bad places, personally i dont hire steering holders and no females, but i do use females in another job

Glad I ran into this video and having interest in getting into the trucking gig, Im currently working on getting my cdl and now working for fedex in a warehouse and as soon as I get my cdl I probably will start as a company driver and haul their trailers for experience, while I save and purchase my own truck and eventually become an owner operator someday. A Full Flow oil spinner is a good thing to have in . Basically a centrifuge . Gets a LOT of particulates .

O for sure, I did do a paper log. But it's just aggravating because e logs makes us safer right🤔 I miss the old days with paper logs. E log messes up and they b automatically blame driver.
