haven't even watched it- i find out about obscure stuff and i just want to get it at blu-ray quality. the art work needs it.

Making music videos in an analog world was so different. Really friggin cool to still have this footage.

NTSC or PAL playback ? Whats magnificent to me, as far as i can see, no drop outs during PB. Could be a perfect working drop out compesator. Wonder what the framerate was (24/25/30/50/60 f/s).

I would deinterlace static images from 26:35 to 27:55 as 30p to reduce stairstepping and improve the overall quality.

I absolutely love the music in this. The first 4 minutes are a calm instrumental then suddenly it takes the melody you've been hearing and adds lyrics and pumps up the energy into a pop song.
Oh thank you for this! I was wondering if/when we might get part 2!

This is extremely high quality footoge for the time! Stenier-Film in Munich unfortunately closed down last year. I've recently aquired the 3x HDD1000s that were used in their edit suite and on which this video was originally edited. There was no open reel tape left in there though, just some HDCam tapes here and there. As I've said in a previous comment, I've seen this video at Sony boothe at a fair in 1992 on both a Sony 2x2 videowall and an HDM-3830 monitor and the source was an HDD-1000. There is a big difference in quality between the originali digital footage and the analog optical disc and also digital compression used by YT is degrading the quality if the image isn't a still frame. But even with these limitations, this video is a nice experience for average people that didn't worked with those video systems in the days they were the only way to produce HD contents. Thanks for the good acquisition job!

This is the very first time I see a digitization of a UniHi tape, thanks for sharing. The UniHi is the only format missing in my first and second generation HDTV machine collection, to be more precise I'm missing a player, since I have a portable recorder which ... is a recorder only (not even a playback key on it!). The dropout scheme is very similar to that of the W-VHS machines. In the end the image quality is not too far from that of a MUSE coded program, sometimes even worse, which is not possible for a professional machine. As you know, all the aerial shootings of the Over America series were recorded with a portable UniHi, and I have some W-VHS tapes that are clearly better in quality than this demo tape. I second your thought of a third generation tape, the image is too soft and harsh at the same time. I'm a bit surprised how badly was calibrated that camera: convergence is totally wrong on the right side in several scenes and at 2.20 it's clearly noticeable. Maybe all the shooting rig for this demo wasn't at 100%.

this rich art style is lost to outsourced non jp animation studios with more simplistics styles and degeneration of business from jp itself
Aww, too bad they were having vocal difficulties. They were under their notes a lot.

Not trying to sound nostalgic, but analog HD then looked way better to my eyes than digital HD. Now everything looks like a soap opera with too much brightness it hurts my eyes and looks really dull. I'm interested in hearing opinions.
