Hmm. But doing it this way means the leg is still full of salt. That's asking for trouble. Rather than pull that hose fitting off each time from inside the transom, I'd put a valve in-line between the transom and the engine pump and place a garden hose fitting on the engine side of that valve. Close the valve, turn the hose on, then run the engine the way you have. When you are finished, turn off the engine and open the valve, but leave the hose turned on. This would send fresh water back through the leg and out the saltwater intake on the leg. No muffs required. No removal of fittings. No leaning over exhaust manifolds that might still be hot. Or just buy muffs with a longer reach like I did, and all those problems go away.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but there's no way I would pull that hose more than once. I would install a T or Y fitting to attach a garden hose to it, and a valve.

I've got that same drive, but my water intake hose is really pinched. Where it connects to the drive itself, it comes off that point and goes starboard before it bends back to the port side where it goes through the transom. Seems like a silly design, or I got the wrong hose. Any suggestions?

Any advice for removing the shift cable connector ( little metal piece at the end of the threaded rod)? Mine will not break loose even with vice grips holding the threaded rod.

Nice Video. I need some help, i got the leg off 100%, when i took the pin out for the trim rams, one ram compressed and the other lengthened. I felt to see if i could push and pull and they seem solid, Why has this happened? How do i get them free to move to line them up? Thanks

You mean shift cable. Throttle goes to the carberator. Shifter goes to the transmission wich is in the top part of the outdrive. Good video. Might have bent your shift cable letting it drop with the cable still inserted though. I will be pulling mine soon to change u joints and put new bearing's and seal inside while I'm there.

What is the purpose for the Pawl bar for the outdrive exactly? Is it intended to be there when boat is out on the waters???
@edenfijd4 жыл бұрын
That pawl locks the drive down so when you go into reverse, the drive doesn't try to come up out of the water. There is a release linkage bar that pushes it to release it when you want to raise the drive up to trailer it. Mine broke the tip off at the top so I had to go into the water and reach down to unlock it. Fixed now with a replacement linkage.
