A comment from 4 years ago stated that this interpretation of this song “has no place in the world of real bluegrass.” AND THAT describes the EXACT problem with the world today! The world is no longer a single lane dirt road. It is a thousand lane super highway with millions of on-ramps. It is limitless. We can’t live in the past. Bluegrass can be expressed in more than one way. The Cleverly’s can bring bluegrass to those who never knew it existed and expand its reach to new generations. The only “real” in the world is love and hate. Hate needs to take an exit!

Ok. Came back here after you guys mentioned your Ozark Music channel at Walnut Valley Festival 2024 livestream. I have to disagree with 100% of the other comment, since there is only one, and say I absolutely love The Cleverly’s! Takes me back to being a kid in the ‘60s and going to the What Cheer Opera House in What Cheer, Iowa when the traveling shows performed for sell out crowds and always had a comic in the group. Digger has perfect timing comedically, and there isn’t a better or tighter group of players out there than this. They make these non-genre songs believable. Kudos Chapmans for hosting them. And tell Junior Junior hey if he stops by the Shoppe!

Thank you for what you did to give artists such as the Petersens a place to play and be heard during the pandemic. I know that it meant a lot to many of the groups to be able to perform when the other venues were closed. And it gave us a chance to hear great groups like the Petersens.

One of the least friendly artists I have ever tried talking to. I once saw Rodney and the Dillard's (without Douglas) two nights in a row; I was appalled to hear the exact same show right down to the jokes and patter. It was so canned. Thank God we have the recordings.

Saw them in McPherson KS this year and they sang this. Easily their best piece in the arsenal. Such a powerful song and Ellen just nails it perfectly.

Got a Dillards LP in Dundee Scotland when I was in my teens. 50+ years later, I'm still in love with that music. Also became a fan of John Hartford. I wish that I could have seen you all playing live.

I just found out about Mason this morning reading a BluegrassToday article about a scholarship in his honor. Im absolutely heartbroken, this video has been in my saved archive for 3years of listening. Masons banjo playing is 100% the type player that i listen to, He had the bluesy playing of Ron Block but had the hammering drive of Ron Stewart! To the Ruble family im so sorry for your loss, he left a great legacy!!!
