Always a lot of chat about the 'special' quality of CCD. The only camera i've used where this genuinely stands out is the 2004 OLY E-1 - later OLY CCD cameras are far less distinctive. With the OLY's, i've been able to shoot the same lenses all the way through to the E-M1X, along with vintage Nikkors, Taks, MOG's, Minolta etc - i've not been able to replicate the 'feel' of the E-1 images with any of the others (either in camera or in post). Is it specifically the fact of CCD (no), or sensor res - 5MP (maybe), or 'colour science' (who knows). Whatever, try the E-1 if you have the opportunity - it's a special old beast.

record a video in a quiet room with internal mic and kit lens. audio level set to auto. move the camera around a tiny bit...not really much is needed. when you playback the audio on your computer do you hear the knocking sound on the right channel?

I hope for a Z fc II based on the Z 50 II. And that they take a little bit off of the Z f. I don't know the materials but magnesium seems better than pure plastic. Doesn't have to be metal.

Zfc - bought it about 1.5 years ago. Sold it very quickly.. ●Ergonomics were awful, lens choices at that time VERY limited. Plastic feel, no flash. Single Card slot. ●Great Video & Audio. Great lcd & evf. Zfc - black much better,safety *Z50ii in 2025 much better - ergonomics & autofocus Could list further but I would NOT recommend zfc. ✅️Either Z50ii or better a D750 - inexpensive & Hundreds of lens choices, better images & dynamic range..ergonomics are brilliant. Double card slots. D750 is a no brainer.

Coins are not good for judging image sharpness, but about 3 groups of parallel straight lines as close as possible, the groups having different orientations, because due to the astigmatism, the parallel lines will not be seen as clearly for every position.

You can buy manual Sony E to Nikon Z adapter without electronic contacts, and use all your lenses that you adopted to Sony on Nikon Zf.

Half press the shutter, one can capture lock the exposure needle. So you can meter subject/area, and THEN compose.

I have Nikon D70, D80, D200 in CCD land and 10.2mp Pentax K-m. I owned the Olympus e-300 when new and still have the e E-20 (5mp) which I bought on its release. Of these I would say the D200 is the best camera if you want to exploit the vast back catologue of F series lenses as you can save up to 10 AI or AI-S manual lens profiles and use them in most modes. The D80 or D40 are far more restricted as they don't support such lenses as they don't know and can't be told their maximum apperture (that's what I call the biggest hole size, call me old fashioned). The E-20 and e-300 (which I bought to replace the E-20 due to its glacial file writting performance) were able to deliver wonderfull and strikingly real world images but the highlight end of dynamic range was seriously limited and any significant recovery of the raws would introduce magenta hue into the whites. The four-thirds format is seriously restricted in lens availability compared to Pentax and Nikon or MFT. If you don't need to use manual vintage glass then the D80 is a great choice being smaller and especially lighter than the D200 but with similar image results. However.. the Pentax K-m being light, small (relatively) and above all.. having IBS makes it the choice to carry on most occasions. I use with the SMC 28-105 FA f4-f5.6 plus the SMC A 70-210mm f4 macro and SMC 50mm A f1.7 with the K-m. The K-m is not weather resistant unlike the D200 which somewhat is. If changing lenses is to avoided then I might take the K-m with 28-105 and D80 with Nikkor IS 18-55 mk2 kit lens plus either D700 (FX) with Nikkor 20mm f2.8 AI or if for landscapes the 24mp Nikon D5300 with Tokina ATX Pro 11-16mm f2.8 or Canon 5D mk2 with the Nikkor 20mm. I'd carry the SMC 70-210 in the bag for some stabilized longer lens subjects. Above ISO 400 switch the D200 to 1250 or so and B/W profile for great film like gritty grain stunners. If I can only carry one camera and need video too then it is the miniscule Oly OM-D E-M10 mk3 with Lumix 14-45mm G Vario f3.5-5.6 and a small collection of Zuiko film era primes with K&F adapter. This is (perhaps) the most enjoyable to shoot with.. even if not CCD gold. 😊

@MatthewLe45828 күн бұрын
Yes quite easily, pressing the film re-wind button on the base will allow you move the advance lever without actually advancing the film allowing you to expose the same frame as many times as you like. The only minor downside is the frame counter continues to advance every time you do it.

I totally agree with you that it feels plastic-like!!! I heard in all reviews that it was really high end, but now that I have sold my X-Pro2 and X-T4, I have to say those Fuji cameras felt more premium in hand..

I only use medium format cameras - you should sample the IQ of the CCD sensor Pentax 645D, and you can always crop down to a FF diptych with no loss in quality.

Enjoyed your video👍, good comparisons,i also have one or two ccd cameras,i like them all they all have plus and minus,nikon d70 for me is the best all rounder,fuji s5 pro for picture quality, Pentax for funky colours,and Olympus e400 like Kodak colours and like you say a small, quality camera for carrying around,i shoot raw and find i hardly have to process ccd images,the cmos camera's i have i have to process them

This camera was in the sale a few weeks back in Nikon USA, so I started to look for reviews to see if I could buy it in the next sale. I must have watched dozens of reviews and yours is the first one that mentions the different click in the Exp comp dial and the B&W dial, excellent video. How do you like the grip?
