Such an awesome challenge here. Here are the points for reference, but I would encourage you to listen to the entire message. 7x difficulties of difficult text 1. Exegetical difficulty (We’re not sure what the authorial intent is) 2. Covenantal difficulty (How does an OT passage apply to NT believers?) 3. Cultural distance (Though the original audience was aware of what was being said, it is now lost to most of our current culture) 4. Genre differences (Different kinds of literature should be read different ways) 5. Doctrinal density or the lack thereof (The difference between passages that are theologically dense vs passages recording simple history {e.g. genealogies}) 6. Current sensitivities (Each progressive culture has various levels of resistance with different parts of scripture, even to the point of disapproval) 7. Textual obscurity (Not much info is given & we aren’t quite sure what’s going on) 7x ways to deal with difficult texts 1. Show the clarity of the main point 2. Teach what the text reveals about the character of God & His desire for His people. 3. Explain the cultural context without sacrificing the meaning & application. 4. Make a habit of explaining the genre of your passage. 5. Adjust the amount of text you cover to fit the amount of time you have. 6. Be aware of current sensitivities, but don’t ignore the truth. 7. Show why the Holy Spirit would include this passage for believers across the centuries to read. (Why would the Holy Spirit want us to know this?) 3x concluding pieces of advice: 1. Don’t be afraid or timid. 2. Do be unclear. 3. Don’t be dull.

Just praying for a friend whose husband dropped dead this week. His oldest daughter was caught up in a cult & for the past 15 years has been estranged from her parents & family. Praying she will attend the funeral & bring some consolation to her mother. She asked for money to go to law school & the father paid for it but now….I don’t know if she will reach out to her mother….please pray for the family. Thank you, family of God.

Grace and peace saints. The sevenfold worship of "Blessing and Glory and Wisdom and Thanksgiving and Honor and Power and Might be to our God and Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever." (Rev. 7:12) (Although I'm sure it will be beyond overwhelmingly majestic and beautiful when sung in perfect unison with the chorus of all redeemed saints)

Grace and peace to all God's people. Good message indeed and spoken with true words of wisdom. I never thought I would say this but I am grateful to my father for mastering the art of "belt" and even though he is no longer with us that belt has lasting disciplinary effects. I could never imagine sending my beloved mother to a retirement home or missing a day of getting groceries for her or not helping her with anything she needs help with. It is absolutely astonishing to see parents letting their children put them on a leash and making them beg "please listen to mommy and daddy", thereby raising selfish monsters instead of demonstrating true leadership from the get go. Raise your children Biblically and glorify God together and blessings will follow accordingly. All glory be to God and Lord Jesus Christ.
