I thought this band was going to be huge. They were in regular rotation in early MTV. I really thought they were going to be big.

The most criminally underrated band in Rock history. They were/are super tight, great writers, and good people. Smithereens RULE!

I saw them at the Stephan Center on the Notre Dame Campus in 89 or 90. It was Pat's Birthday and you could tell he was a little Buzzed. Show was great...they came out for an Encore and proceeded to start playing pieces of Cover tunes and butchered a few, just fucking around and having fun...the Bassist wasn't having any of it and dropped his bass and walked off and he was PISSED.....CLASSIC ROCK STORY...

Stephen J. McParland has the story on this single in his Gary Usher biography, The California Sound. It was recorded after the Beatles' Let It Be version. Usher produced but gave Bill Cowsill the credit due to a union issue.

I was in a band called "High Risk" after high school with some classmates. My friend Joe E. added this to the repertoire. I played the riff, he played rhythm. I love the song to this day.

Michael Richard’s was still in his development stages with his signature physical comedy, but to me it was still funny the guy had so much talent!!! A physical comedy genius the likes of Harpo, Keaton, Chaplin, etc. We have no more real physical comedians today. Sebastian Maniscalco can be physically funny with in the context of his stand up comedy. Perhaps he should explore that more on a pure basis in is acting. His physical humor is very good, but not the pure slapstick kind like Richard’s👏🏼🤪👏🏼🤪👏🏼🤪👏🏼

To be honest, I don't think Michael Richard's was all that funny pre-Seinfeld. Talented, gifted, yes. But his early film and Friday characters were a bit unhinged and overly goofy. Subtle humor is much funnier than the more obvious, over acted stuff. Kramer was and always will be his best work
