Hardly the most relaxing piano music to accompany this video. As for the scene depicting the stock removal... well, for God's sake, this was guaranteed to confuse any newbie to airgun maintenance. The stock remained firmly clamped in the vice. It was the metallic "action" that was removed. Please, if you do not know your airgun parts, do not produce any more of these videos!

Thanks for the idea and such easy to follow plans. Just built my own from them complete with overkill front latch. I made mine from 9mm stokboard recycled plastic though. Maintenance free!

No problem, it’s nice to see others building the same box! Great idea using recycled plastic - mine’s due a varnish soon which yours never will. Did you weld the plastic together or join with brackets?

I beg to differ on the earliest reference to a Curacle. It was found that one of the tiny fragments of records found is instructions on how to build a Curacle, and it matches precisely the same variation of how to build the Arc in the Bible. In fact, the professor is convince the Arc was itself the largest Curacle ever built, and if you look at a Curacle from the water line, eye level with the water, the Curacle has the classic shape of Noah's Arc seen from the water level. This is an ancient boat. It is also the most stable, will ride large waves without overturning, and the more I find out about it, the more I want to build one.

Corin, you've blown me away with your restoration skills (and with the xylophone too, haha) and your patience to record everything so meticulously. This has been like a masterclass for beginners like me who want to "restore" their boat (in my case, a Miracle dinghy) and don't know where to start. Truly, congratulations, mate!

Hello, good afternoon, it is a monumental job and very well done, congratulations. I bought my sailboat at the beginning of this year but I have only just now had time to organize it and I would like to know if you can help me; I am new to the whole subject and looking around it is the only Mirror Dinghy that exists in my country, by the way my name is John Freddy and I am from Colombia. I appreciate you can help me and forgive me my English is terrible.

Wich quantity of undercoat and topcoat did you used
@CorinNelsonSmith2 ай бұрын
From memory it was one 750ml tin of primer, one 750ml tin of undercoat and then one and a half 750ml tins of top coat. Now I believe International do a combined primer and undercoat so you may just do one tin of that and then enough top coat to change the colour.

Superb job. Took me back 55 plus years when I built a Mirror dinghy from kit with my dear Dad. Raced her and cruised in her. Superb dinghy. £75 then for the kit including sails. Paint and varnish extra. Hoping you will have many happy times in this wonderfully restored boat. Well done. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Sorry if i sound stupid but this is very similar to the fireball correct? Im working on one now and really could use some help with the rigging. I always sailed sunfish and hobir cats so this is really new to me! That boat is beautiful by the way! Im in process of fixing some seams and painting my whole boat inside and out!

I am the son of the penultimate owner (R.I.P.) of the Kalea, purchased in 1991 and resold to the current owner Mr. Tim Blackman in 2019. I had the honor of being in command of this wonderful sailing ship from 2004 to 2019, the year in which this masterpiece was sold by my family due to new needs that concerned our personal affairs. The yacht was a little low maintenance, but still sailed superbly. This is why Tim, trying it sailing in the Mediterranean, fell in love with it and moved it to the U.K. and brought it back to its former glory. Thank you Tim for taking on the baton of this wonderful story. I am deeply moved and I feel that dad is watching you with emotion and joy sailing from up there. The same emotion and pride that I feel, having saved this masterpiece from oblivion, handing it over to Tim who is still able to navigate and convey emotions. Thanks Tim, I love you and look forward to hugging you again.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your work with us! You did a an amazing job planning and then building the box! I have a question however: does your trangia get enough oxygen for burning in the position it is? I have noticed that my trangia is “choking” sometimes even though it is not in a box. Probably in my case the reason is that I am not using original trangia pans etc and they cover the top section of the stove with very little space left for creating sufficient drag.
@CorinNelsonSmith7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Never had an issue with the Trangia choking, but I did get a bit fed up with the lack of control using meths as fuel, so switched to the gas burner option.

Wow! What a beautiful boat. One of the sexiest ive seen. Its almost right upnthere with an ac40. Having said that though, i was sickened by the bouyancy bags, amount of control lines, and the spinnaker poles. She looked so beautiful naked. Nice job on the restoration.

The “classic” Merlin like 3387 has fairly minimal controls compared with the latest boats - they have an elaborate system for mast raking one continuous line for raking fore or aft, but a complete rat’s nest under the foredeck to keep the shroud and forestay tensions correct. But, lovely responsive dinghy to sail…

Nice job corin (interesting name). Ive just bought a _solo_ (which is very similar to your gp) and noticed the 2 rectangular holes in the transom. What the hell are they? Im assuming theyre to remove water from the cockpit. However, on yours, you seem to have them permanently sealed. Mine were flaps that were attached to a bungee located in the cockpit.
@CorinNelsonSmith9 ай бұрын
Yes they are transom drains to allow water out of the cockpit. No idea why mine were screwed on so I removed them and replaced with bungee retained ones as you describe. See 10:20 onwards for fabrication of new adjustable flaps and 13:38 onwards for a picture of the bungee holding the flaps on.
