Served Rick and wife Amanda lunch/dinner several times in the 80’s while while attending events honouring the man in monitor your. I had a chance to speak with Mr. Hansen and you can tell he has a good soul. Hero indeed.

Forget the physical toll , do you know how hard mentally it is to be alone in your thoughts for 26 months and in constant pain? Rick Hasen is beyond person with a disability, he's even way beyond pretty much anyone on this planet. I could not even fathom the will power this man has.

This aired on CBC television and I wasn't expecting it as a teenager. I had followed Rick Hansen's Journey around the world on the news and when this came on I became overwhelmed with what he did and his commitment. I still think a movie should have been made about this. He came to the college in my city and I bought his book and he signed it. Very authentic person.

Spencer van Vloten is no ally towards the disability community ? Why would you have him on this video ? Can not claim to be an ally unless the community says so. Please, stop speaking for use.
@weldonhaywood97357 ай бұрын
Spencer van Vloten has written articles with individuals with a long history ableism and violence towards members of the disability community . Given him a platform is insulting.

I remember the Man in Motion tour. Most people think this song was written for the movie St. Elmo's Fire but it was written for Rick Hansen's Man In Motion tour. Awesome song.

John Parr told us how Rick Hansen actually was the inspiration for this song: “I wrote the lyric when we were working on the movie. David showed me a video of Rick Hansen and I was inspired to write the story of his planned epic journey to circumnavigate the globe in his wheel chair. I wrote the lyric ambiguously, so the film company would think "all I needs these pair of wheels" referred to Demi Moore's jeep when actually I am referring to Rick's wheelchair, or "for once in his life a man has his time" actually refers to when Rick would end his journey wheeling back into Vancouver with a million people lining the streets - not when Emilio Estevez finally kisses Andie Macdowell."

Why it has taken me this long to reconnect with Rick and his storey? Back in the days of The Man in Motion Tour He stopped at our school just east of Regina Saskatchewan . I just remember the fire it kindled that there was smeone that had the inspiration to surpass lifes hurddles and make such a positive desision to move past what seems lifes way to surpress a human ambition and to come out way on top of it all!! Thx Rick for the years of inspiration!

My mind immediately went to my 23 year old daughter when she was diagnosed tithes flHCC and the fight of her life that ensued. At 95 pounds I have never seen anyone more determined to beat a rare cancer. I stayed with her during recovery from 3 major surgeries and one minor one. Only once did I see her shaken. When she first saw the image of that 9cm tumor on her liver. Then it was time to fight.

I was there when he climbed one of the STEEPEST HILLS of his worldwide tour at Thermal Drive in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada and was there again at his arrival at the final destination of Oakridge Centre in Vancouver. I also remember his speech where he said "Reach for the Stars but if you get to the Moon be happy with it!" --- WHAT AN INSPIRATION RICK IS TO EVERYONE! For EVERYONE taking part in ALL sorts of activities and endeavours! Listen to this John Parr song AND ALSO take inspiration from wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen! Many times, sheer personal and group effort and PERSERVERENCE can get you places where raw talent is simply not enough! And Rick is and should be OUR personal and collective inspiration for EVERY activity we take part in be it Work and Play! Thank you Rick Hansen and Thank You John Parr for melding pure athleticism and pure audio artistry to create and form something BIGGER than any of us could have imagined! V
