I'm getting back into the dating scene after being out of it for for over 20 years. Since first impressions are so vital I know I need a good set of pictures of myself. This advice will help so much in getting a more natural look to my pics. I'm already nervous as hell about this whole thing, so anything I can do to look more natural will probably help to feel more relaxed as well. Thanks!!

Well that's the start. Practice in the mirror and work to isolate just your lower eyelids moving up. Top lid movement should be minimized.

What if you have naturally squinched eyes, you have an RBF LOOK?!
@lj876018 күн бұрын
May be when squinching the dolly eyes showing up, and now this the most popular eye make up trend to make you look more attractive.

for some reason i just now found this. ive got the same canon 100 f2.8L but i feel thats too long for me, ive got to be nearly 10' away and i JUST GOT the 85 f1.4 (EF). ive got an adapter for the 6m2 but it works well on my 5d4. i agree though if youre going to use a zoom, that you use the exact same (as much as possible) focal length to keep everything consistent...

Alas, the music was too much of an annoyance and distracting.
@420sigmapowerАй бұрын
I appreciate your effort to make the video but some things really bothered me. The background music is to loud, you touching the model all over the place is totally inappropriate, and the chin forward thing is not something you should focus on in all situations. If you pull up the chin very slightly you get a nice fill in of imperfections. And lastly don't yell at us like we are all idiots, because it looks more you are an idiot the way you behave. The only good advice is try it out and keep it subtle, but i already found out by trial and error. Keep your hands on the camera and your hands off the model is my advice to you. You heard about metoo and all that shit right?

Glad to see Profoto getting better with assembly of products. The older items take way too long to put together and assistants never could figure them out.

@@peter_hurley i think the gap between the two backdrop materials is what is being referenced. as an environmental 'actors'' photo, it works but could maybe be more pronounced. otherwise, yeah it's distracting (but not horribly so)

Peter, I'm interested in your decision (at least for these shots) in positioning the subject against a diagonal backdrop instead of the usual positioning in more of the center of the drop. Thoughts?
@peter_hurleyАй бұрын
I don't go into most of my shoots with a plan and just make moves on the fly. I don't remember ever shooting this angle in my studio, so I'm not sure what I was thinking actually.

Sorry but this video doesn't do justice to what the reflector can do! Throwing a diffuser on it would be least used case. I'd only do this if i wanted a softbox light and i was too lazy to change modifiers. I have a similar reflector and there is no point using it like this. It is just making it into a large umbrella or soft box. This reflector can do much more! You can get soft light with specular highlights that you can't get with any other modifier! When defocused the wrap around and light drop off on the edges of your subject amazing. Just pulling the rod back you can obtain a hard light that throws like a fresnel lens and doesn't follow the normal light drop off rules that you would get with regular soft box or umbrella. This type of modifier is one of the most versatile modifiers you can buy. This video doesn't do it justice.
@peter_hurleyАй бұрын
True, this was a quick one. I need to delve more into the zoom rod in another video. But yeah the thing is pretty special. In this case, I wanted this look I actually think I shot him without diffusion for a second video, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I'll look at the footage.

I don't know if by industry standards it's close on output, but the soft zoom with the zoom rod is similar to how the para works too.
