OK folks everyone relax. union pipe fitter 38 yrs. cooling towers like that are made of concrete and inside this big funnel are pvc or other flammable pipe. that's whats burning. reactors have been off line for months. will it burn? yep these funnels are open about 20 feet in height on the bottom so there is a real good draft for a fire. will the concrete hold? it's Russia who knows? no melt down will occur.
