The moral problem with these settlements are on the investor end. A big problem is that when you get competitive bids from investors for these policies, the "investors" are typically being shepherded by brokers who don't necessarily have an honest fiduciary commitment to their clients. The viatical company doesn't even have to interact with the end investor much, only the broker. The brokers make a great commission even if the investor doesn't understand the huge risks of the investments. The assumption is that the broker has fully explained the risks to their clients. That may or may not be true yet the viatical company can easily look away because they don't really know the end client. There is no chain of accountability. The viatical industry is highly dependent upon brokers bringing them investors so there is naturally an incentive to take the investment money and look away. The risk of fiduciary lapse between the broker and client investor isn't mentioned in this video. Distressed brokers can easily vanish into thin air at any time. All the blame can be assigned to the broker. The viatical company simply shrugs. Viatical companies should be made more accountable to who their end investors are and there should be stronger regulations on this. Some states have regulations which are laughably weak and vague.

Pharmaceutical companies need to come off their prices and maybe that is where we start. The insurance companies are not setting the cost or at least not all of with their PBM's .

I did my FFM recert yesterday and selected the Health Sherpa option. I am glad that I did. With the information I gained from Health Sherpa I was able to pass the final exam on the first try.I woould certainly recommend using the Health Sherpa track to apply for your FFM Certification.

I took Medicare part A and B at 65 plus an advantage BCBS program. 12 month later I notified social security and BCBS and drop the plans because I started working again and the company had a great plan.
