A part of me hurt a little when he shifted out of overdrive while his foot was on the throttle. That 2-speed auto that is used in the 4+3 is notoriously bad at withstanding the torque from the L98 when shifting.

That's a sharp car, for sure! As for the transmission, it should be illegal for the floor shift to have a shifter boot! 😂 I thought it was a manual with a Hurst, until I saw only two pedals. 😮

These cars are meant to drive and enjoy. When you get to be 55 years old, you’re going to have a few imperfections here and there, but who cares? If you want Corvette to put up on a pedestal, that is an absolutely perfect condition, you are missing the entire point. This car looks fantastic and apparently drives wonderfully. I’ve owned my 1969 427/435 since 1970 and have put 185,000 miles on it. I’ve driven it as often as I can and have enjoyed every minute. I hope whoever is smart enough to buy this car Treats it like a car and not like a trailer queen. Get in it. Start it up and go drive it. You will then understand my post.

As a owner of a street driven turbo car for 15 years now, i think one has to address fuels,compression ratio's and boost. Unless the piston is way down in the hole and the a serious dish is used ,your powr level will be dictated by octane level/fueling. Many options but no real free lunch.

My friend had an '89, silver with black leather. After driving it I ended up buying a '94 SC, white with gray interior. I put 138k miles on it in six years. It still looked good, but it had too many mechanical issues for me to fix it at that point. I still have the window sticker and a bunch of magazines with reviews from when it first came out.

I had a 1975 Coupe DeVille I ordered from the dealer in late 74. I drove it twice from Lansing, IL to Hollywood, FL only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks. 24 HR trip. Wonderful smooth ride and felt great when I arrived at my destination. Didn't care about gas mileage back then at 50-75 cents a gallon.

Why is the engine bay yellow?
@rocksolidmotorsports
@rocksolidmotorsports 8 күн бұрын
We honestly have no clue. It's just how the truck came from Black Widow. My guess is they do not pull the engine to repaint the engine bay when they receive the trucks to do the conversion.

It’s the z28 not the irocz. The irocz didn’t come with a standard tranny…only a 4 speed automatic in 1985
@rocksolidmotorsports
@rocksolidmotorsports 8 күн бұрын
You might want to double check your facts. In 1985, the L69 5.0 V8 was an option in the Iroc-Z and it was only equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. They were much more rare than the LB9 TPI 5.0 V8 cars.
@worthless4194
@worthless4194 8 күн бұрын
@ and you’d have that car in the dealership replacing the tranny every time you floored it and shifted….and I haven’t seen any irocz with a z28 badge on the glove box…plus irocz came with tpi hence irocz

@@rocksolidmotorsports Just to let people know, The reason GM did not offer the T5 with the 350 was because the 350 torque was higher then the transmission was rated for. I worked at a Chevy dealers 1986-90 and I remember having a conversation with a sales manager that told me if he could get 350/ 5 speeds he said he could sell 5 today but he could not. See GM bought the transmission with the agreement the vender would pay for warranty repair. Had they put that transmission in a 350 car that would Void the vendors responsibility. If GM did install one T5 in a production 350 they would have to prove to then vendor every time one of those T5 broke it was not in a 350 cars. One thing that is not well known GM did offer a T56 reto kit for the 350 automatic 3rd gens in 1993. That is how bad people wanted them. If you could have ordered them then why would some pay 5K to have their car converted?

I'd venture to say the reason the engine momentarily stumbled coming out from that roundabout isn't because the carbs are out of tune it was because you cracked them open too much all of a sudden before allowing for airflow speed within the tall tunnel ram, you went quiet thinking of an excuse but it's ok.

My brother had a 1968 the same color, hood mounted tach and black vinyl top, same black interior. His was the stock 400 but no a/c , no power steering and a 4 speed manual. He sold it and ordered a new1974 Grand Prix SJ with the S.D. 455. The Firebird was the fastest car in our neighborhood when we were kids. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Ohhhh, gotta luv it. In high school (early to mid 1980's) a good buddies mom drove a very similar car. A 68, green with black interior, console floor shift, 400 with q-jet carb. Smoke show from a stop sign, and when barking second gear(auto trans), the rear would squat and drag the turbo mufflers. Fantastic memories.

Nice car! High calcium, high zinc and phosphorus oils would be perfect for an engine like this. But all i have is OHC and a roller cam engine and there's no benefit to higher Zn and phosphorus in factory roller cams or OHC. I bet someone can enjoy that ride for years to come. I actually prefer the starting in 84 because of the changes in the feedback system and it went from two fuel pumps to one. But that's all ancillary. I mean that's beautiful just the way it is.

Nice ride, my buddy had one growing up . Kept breaking the same motor mount , we welded a chain to it😂 , it worked. He punched it coming out of a park ended up facing opposing traffic, crunch totaled. Red the top color involved in crashes, it’s true still.

It's a greatest hits of options and day-2 upgrades. Fun car. Nothing says 1968 quite like Verdoro green AND a vinyl top. Some of the day-2 type things are the bullet side mirrors, the 455HO intake, headers, 69 style front calipers, aftermarket gauges and electric choke Edelbrock carb. Looks to me like this one is ready to drive and enjoy. Great luck with the sale! I wonder what a Verdoro is? hahaha
