I recognized the "Modern Farm Systems" bin! Originally made in Webster City, Iowa. Owner used to fly at Twin Comanche (this was in the late '60's). Starting in 1971, after I completed my military service, and was working for the State Employment Service in Webster City, I referred many a client to the site. I've always marveled at how long the paint seems to stay fresh for the "MFS signage! I believe MFS is no longer producing any product. 2011, when refurbing the paint on the exterior of our Upland, CA, home, I rented at scissor lift (concrete surrounded most of the house). The poor OL' ag-pilot ain't a spring chicken anymore and I bet this tells on him!!! Maw-maw is spoilin' the grandbaby for sure!!! 😁😁😁😁❤❤ Got a split-tail bonanza? Cool! I really want to implement this at the operation I work at. Usually how many lbs/acre are you doing? How far are you ferrying? How many acres can you do in a day? Do you charge more per acre than spraying?
@IowaFlyingFarmerАй бұрын
@@willjohnson3907 cereal rye is usually around a bushel per acre. Some of that depends on the government program that they are using. When seeding, we try and get to an airport as close to the field as we can. We try not to ferry over 15 miles maximum. I’ve never rolled my lawn. The lawn at our old house was 25 years old and still very smooth, but we don’t get frost heaving or rain in the summer (mower ruts maybe?). I’m guessing that takes a toll. I’ve seen it done on baseball fields and that’s it. It’s pretty rare for us to get five inches of rain in a week during the winter. If we do we are starting to worry about flooding. Benefit of California I guess.
