I missed this comment Lloyd sorry, the weed problem has finally subsided but the year has seen it at it's worst. The last couple of uploads have been for trying out a new video editing programme so not very interesting and, on the subject of light, any video clip sparkles on a sunny day.

Thanks Bob, yes there is a lot of cosmetic tidying to do but I always fancied a paddle steamer, this was on FB marketplace for £60, no drive train and unfinished but complete, ABS hull but too good to pass up.

The weather forecast had been terrible right uo to the day before Bob so considering that, it wasn't a bad turnout.

Not the best of days weatherwise and the choice of a model tug with a Kort nozzle for steering to tow a barge fitted with a Gopro was a last minute decision and a bad one, most of the footage consisted of wildly panning views as the stern of the tug swung the barge, a lesson learned

I;ve just ordered a suit from China Lloyd, I have made stuff in the past but it takes ages and looks second rate

This one is an old Cheddar Steam engine running on compressed air mainly to test the viability of setting up a radio mix to give forward reverse control in a plus or minus direction and regulator control with plus plus direction on the throttle lever.

The first model I've owned with a bow thruster Lloyd, I wanted something I could use as a rescue boat instead of Jaws which is very effective but essentially it's just a wooden box with a propulsion system, at least this will look like a boat when it's finished

Yes it does, the original boiler was fired by a ceramic pan burner which is very unstable so it was replaced as well as the engine which also underperformed with unreliable reversing but I was given the boat and it was worth investing in

No Lloyd they are from Gopro 7 black action cams, the super strabilisation is very effective so that the horizon remains level and static even when the model is bobbing around, Jaws was also used and is fairly stable as a camera platform

Not exactly perfect scale model boating weather Bob but it was a bank holiday after all and at least the sun was shining on cue for the Black Prince parade 🙂

Not exactly riveting for most folk but after months of tweaking, fettling or new builds, the urge to try out the results is irresitable, roll on warmer weather. .

Hiya Bob, it started as an idea to make a towed barge to carry a gopro or similar, being just a basic flat bottomed boat but I had a couple of Schottel drive units kicking around so I fitted them to make it a powered barge. The drive units enabled it to turn in it's own length so the fold down capture arms were added, a long explanation to say that it's both really and it rescued my gaff cutter today.

It ended up as a dual purpose vessel Bob I did away with the Schottel drives though

To me it's a dream Bob but then I'm no electrician.
