Wow. Nice images. I can't believe you're managing to keep up with the tandem ( which go approx 10% faster 'for free', due to 20% longer waterline: sqrt( 1.2 ) ≈ 1.1 ). Must be the deeper, longer _roa_ stroke, with that springy Kai Ko'o paddle! ☺ Had the swell or chop been bigger, though, I reckon you might have needed a slightly shorter, quicker paddle, though. Note: The stroker in the Gemini has a very nice, shorter stroke, too. The slight delay in applying top-hand pressure shows he's masterly waiting for the canoe to get _to_ the anchored blade, rather than hurriedly pushing water aft. ...Could watch this all day. 👍

If you activate the GPS on GoPro 10, you can add great telemetry to the videos using the Telemetry Overlay software. A license is required, but it's great software.
@BradStyron
@BradStyron 26 күн бұрын
I know but I don't leave the camera running when not recording. It takes forever to capture GPS so when I record using quick capture, it never grabs GPS. Also I hate their software to actually add the GPS to the video. Insta 360 is so much better.
@jesselima_dev
@jesselima_dev 26 күн бұрын
@@BradStyron That is true. When I catch waves close to shore, I need to start recording 1-2 minutes before dropping the wave to get the GPS signal.
@paulreavley5900
@paulreavley5900 26 күн бұрын
@@BradStyron Yes the GoPro software in general is pretty bad. As @jesselima_dev mentioned - Telemetry Overlay is excellent, but things could be simpler if the video hardware maker provided decent software for this. Don't you have to have a separate GPS device paired with the Insta 360 to get GPS data? Is that one of its advantages? the GPS device is already connected to GPS signal and you can turn camera on and off as you wish? And reconnecting to GPS remote is not problematic? (Nice run by the way!)

So do you perform better w the conventional paddle or the Stingray?
@BradStyron
@BradStyron Ай бұрын
I tend to go back and forth, the regular paddle I feel like I get more power and thrust. The QB tends to slip a little. I have both the 72 and 79 QB and the larger one is better in my opinion.

There is no easy win. There will never be. Ever. There is preparation. There have been tremendous training efforts and discipline throughout the years to make such results come true. At the and, the winners are those who put themselves to the test to beat their own records together as a team.

@@BradStyron The noisy, live pattern of the ocean also plays havoc with the real-time broadcast compression algorithm ( too much motion all over the place ). Ditto with the Hilo World Sprints footage we saw recently. I assume that's why it takes a lot of post-processing on the raw footage to make such images look good.
