Use a hair dryer and also interestingly enough you can bend the whole front part of the frame.

I love mine so much and i didn't need any time getting used to them. Mine are Esselor lenses and the progression is beautiful. There is barely any distortion at all. I wonder if that's because of the brand? I read a ton and mine seem to help with that. Mine also contain prism and they are so good i want a second pair.

Why can't we just layer 2 lenses in line and move them closer or farther from each other to adjust focal lengths (like a microscope, telescope, binocular)? It could be adjusted manually or automatically. I've seen the cheap ones with a dial that slide side to side, but those also don't give you a full field of view.

If I followed this, I'd either have no glasses at all, or only glasses which were too small to get on my head, probably children's frames which don't even reach behind my ears! I thought the first things opticians looked at were frame width and temple fit, as well as the nose fit? Plus you don't just want the shape to go around the nose smoothly, you also want the glasses to end up at the right height, rather than the top barely coming up to the eyelid. I'm really grateful for all these online guides, though, because now that big frames are in fashion, there's often nothing at all in the shop that fits me, and I have to hunt down frames for my optician to order in. I'm -8, generally small built, but with narrow set eyes and a face too wide to fit petite ranges. I don't think I've ever had frames which didn't have some level of decentration, even the smallest ones.

A great tip that wasnt mentioned and its the cause . Keep your face clean of sweat and oil . Some people have oily skin or sweat more than others. I'm unfortunately both of them. Keep paper towels or face wipes handy. I will usually keep a couple paper towels folded up in one pocket if I'll be out and about on hot days. Wipe the frame after cleaning your face, different towel or wipe though.

I have worn progressives for years. I just got a new prescription and at almost 2 weeks I still see the text on the computer screen a bit blurry sometimes, which is annoying...but the new prescription is stronger, so I am going to give it more time. Those tortoise frames look great on you and are the perfect color for your coloring. Thank you for explaining progressives to us here. Good video 👍

Progressive Glasses. If your job depends on reading documents, letters and so forth, like being an attorney-at-law or judge or prosecutor or paralegal. Progressive glasses are the worst option because you do not have time for your eyes to adjust. You need the next day and do not have time for your eyes to adjust to see progressive glasses. So, I bought regulat reading glasses. So, I have 2 pairs of glasses.
@trucks1451

@eirvingdiaz7185
@eirvingdiaz7185 Ай бұрын
@@trucks1451 Im saying that progressive glasses are not effective for immediate reading, it is better to get reading glasses because the next day you need to read documents, letters, etc., and by using progressive glasses its going to take time -- weeks to allow your eyes to adjust. So, in that case, reading glasses is the better option.

@cathyorendorf 0 seconds ago I am going to be 65 in July. What happens after a certain age is that the skin breaks down much easier, and whereas the moisturizer works when your young, it stops being as effective as you get older. I can't wear contacts anymore because I have RA and my fingers have a curvature that makes it dangerous for me to insert and remove contacts. My solution for wearing glasses has been to try various products to keep the marks from happening. LitBear sells an acne patch that is size 26mm x 38 mm, I put it over the upper bridge of my nose to cover where the nose prongs of the glasses sit. It is a little bit visible, but it protects my nose. The other thing I have tried is buying a clear vinyl tablecloth cover and putting one of the LitBear patches on it, I cut out a little larger than the LitBear patch, I then remover the LitBear patch. The vinyl table cover material is not as visible as the LitBear patch, but the glasses tend to slide a bit. I know somebody could create a product based on the clear vinyl patch that would not have the sliding issue. I think it is something that could be sold at eyeglass stores that people could use when they are experiencing pain from their nose pieces. I even called a company that makes prosthetic devices, but they said they didn't make anything like that.

My main problem was not addressed and there may not be a solution. I have a very thin bony bridge. Adjustments do not work. Oversized bridge pads do not work. I have sewn soft rubber cups over the pads, but that does not work. It works better than anything else, but still leaves a large red area that aches. Contact lenses are out of the question for me as my eyes are deep set, and I'm 78 years old and do not want the aggravation. So other than some sort of band over my head holding the glasses off my nose, I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Thanks.

Will this work for RayBan (RB4227) sunglasses? I broke my RayBans then found out the model is discontinued. I bought a used pair, not realizing they have prescription lenses. As such, I want to replace prescription lenses with my sunglass lenses. Nervous about breaking the pair i bought while trying to remove the lenses.

great question. I can understand the hesitancy as there is always a possibility of breaking the lenses or frames during installation :( but if you want, it is definitely possible to swap the lenses in this RayBan frame. Another option is to offer to pay a local optician to swap them for you. Hope this helps! thanks for contributing to the channel with a comment :)

Opticians in my neck of the woods would answer that question about how wide of a field of view is in the most vague way possible: "It just depends on your prescription and the lab we send it too, they are almost all the same, would you like me place an order"

My distance vision is fine, but I've started needing reading glasses for up close (+1.50). At this point, I would like a pair of glasses I could wear all the time and want something like a progressive with no prescription in the top, but the more and more I research it, it seems like there are a lot of drawbacks with progressives. Additionally, when I tilt my eyes down, even just a little, I have a very hard time focusing with my non-dominant eye. Looking straight through my reading glasses, everything is crystal clear with both eyes. But like I said, tilting my eyes down a little causes my non-dominant eye to struggle. I'm going to schedule an appointment with my optometrist soon... any tips on making sure they are able to help me find the right glasses?
@myglassesguy
@myglassesguy 2 ай бұрын
ok, yes that all makes sense. you are on the right track by talking to your optometrists about the focus issues. And on your question... I have many clients who love the "plano-progressive" option... no RX at the top but as you go down to to the mid and bottom of the lens, you get the boost you need. 3 thoughts here: 1. ask for their best progressive lens as this always gives you the best opportunity to adapt and have clear vision | 2. ask for the corridor length of fixed 13 or 15mm | 3. with your add power, you could try the Eyezen Plus 4 boost lens: www.essilorpro.com/resources/eyezen/eyezen-plus

@@myglassesguy So I went to my optometrist and explained what's up. I was looking for a progressive I could wear all day but since I'm a software engineer with multiple monitors, I was told that's probably going to be less than ideal because even with high-end ones, the intermediate area would be smaller than I'd like. So we wound up with some "office progressives" and I have to say I'm really liking them. They don't have a distance section but everything on my desk is razor sharp. Also, the eye tilt isn't really an issue... I guess that was me not knowing how to wear progressives/bifocals. For some reason I thought you had to really tilt your eyes way down to see through the bottom of the lens, but it's really not the case, it's more a matter of holding the subject matter and angling the direction you're looking. Anyways, thanks again for your help, your videos helped me get in there and know what questions to ask. And with these office glasses, I can actually navigate the hallways pretty easily without having to take them off, which I could not do with my normal reading glasses.

Distortion on any progressive lenses, no matter how much you pay or what brand, is always going to be more than you expect (just lie the price...LOL). You have to get used to it. Don't give up too soon. BTW, make sure your optician/optometrist is well rated because it is not uncommon for opticians and the people they hire to blurt out whatever they think you want to hear when you ask those 3 questions. LensCrafters and places like that only have sales people that shoehorn you into a pair of eyeglasses and hem and haw at all your questions. You can't prove that they lied to you. About 80% of the time, they will claim it's not their fault if your eyeglasses are unusable.

No matter who makes my glasses, they ALWAYS put the reading portion way too high. Thus, I have to walk with my head pointed down but my eyes pointed up in order to see ahead. Painful and ridiculous. So I mention this every single time I order glasses, and yet it still happens. For the love of gahhhhh, put my reading portion very, very, low. I don't care where my pupils measure, put the reading far lower than you want to. Nope. Useless professionals. Listen. LISTEN. Opticians get stuck in the calculations of standard people but not every person is standard.

If you care about other people's opinions regarding how your lenses look, you can go with progressive. if you dont care, and are a more practical person who prefers peripheral clarity, go with 7x28 lined trifocals. ive been selling glasses over 20 years.. (this comment is for wearers age 40+)
