I am from Lewiston and grew up there. My Dad worked at that hatchery for 30 years. He has passed now, but your video took me back to memories so I thank you.

Beautiful Spot. I have many great memories of Big Springs, even back to the time before the Lodge Burned-down. Really Beautiful Country up in the Islamd Park area.

Awww Thank you so much for commenting. I love to hear those kinds of stories. We absolutely love fish hatcheries and try to visit one every chance we get. I am sorry you lost your dad.

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. How weird. I did not see your comment until after I wrote mine. It is the same story.❤️

I made my motorcycle adventure in '06, went through Haines Jct on the way to visit a high school buddy in Anchorage, then decided to check out the Alaska Marine Highway system. It was going to take a week to get out of Anchorage on a boat, but I could get on at Haines in 3 days. Gave me 2 days to ride there. Got back to Haines Jct. and took a right heading towards Haines, some of the most beautiful scenery of my whole trip. Went for miles without seeing any traffic. Came to road construction, young lady flag person told me not to worry, if a grizzly came along, I could get in her car with her. At the border crossing, the folks seemed glad to see me, as if they needed some one to talk to. It was a hell of a trip!

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. We are heading back up to Alaska. We loved it so much we are purchasing property in Wasilla as a homebase. We are 10 days out from crossing back into Canada and starting our journey back. The best part of the trip was seeing all the wildlife, but having the highway to ourselves most of the time.

It was very memorable for us as it was the first place we hiked with our daughter while there. When did you visit?

Excellent Video. We visited Hatcher Pass and Independence Mine in 2022. We found paragliders jumping from the summit. Absolutely stunning!

That sounded so wonderful to see. Are you planning a return trip? Our daughter wants us to return in August/Sept 2024 and stay for a whole winter. We don't think we will be doing that.. but will be making many trips there.

@@wolfsoffleash Yes we are going back to Alaska this year. We are planing to leave Florida in mid April and once again drive to the Last Frontier. We'll be in Alaska from May thru September, mostly in the southern Kenai peninsula, but we will be spending nearly a month in the Fairbanks - Denali region also. Never thought would be enticed to make this awesome trip a second time, but there is still so much to see there, so, off we go again!

Glad to see that attempts of reconstructing the ALCAN from Destruction Bay to Tok are progressing. Very tough road to negotiate! We did it Southbound on our way home to Florida
@wolfsoffleash11 ай бұрын
On our way back down in September, the only bad section was Beaver creek. Destruction bay and burwash were all new and we could not tell there was ever any type of construction.

Please document the dent...it may have knocked something lose in the roof under side and caulking on the roof edge. A statement to the owner acknowledging it was his tree branch. Insurance on him for claim. This happened to me in a state park. Water damage later. Happy travels.
