New to the career field and this is a video I'm glad I came across. I like researching gear (design, purpose, uses) and how I can apply it. A lot of people I know who joined before me or went to the Army/Marines for infantry have told me some of the same things that you touched on here.

So i bought one of these used. The last owner seemed to cut out the bug netting in fhe arm sleeves. Dissapointed but love how breathable the whole thing is in Georgia hot humid heat. A great piece of kit.

@timring3684 I guess whoever owned this top before I did thought not. Considering I live in the woods. It's a no-brainer.

Is this one the right or left-handed variant ?

This is the right handed variant. So sits on my left side with the angle for reloading with my left hand since I’m a right handed shooter.

I would really like to love this uniform but I don't. The cotton percentage is still too high imo. I went on a 6 mile run with it in 95% humidity at about 85°, the conditions this uniform is advertised for. The Polyco material isn't very breathable and you'll have to rely on the wet cloth cooling effect high cotton materials have. Further relying on breaks to roll up the sleeves and pants. I'd suggest they go lighter and higher polyester percentage material. Make it more moisture wicking and breathable while trying to maintain the durability. Also the stitching on the inside of the jacket would constantly snag onto my rather simple belt buckle. The reinforcement in the pockets for clip on tools, is already fraying after one use. I'm glad I got this on sale bc I'd be pissed if I paid full price for this. It's good! But not for rigorous prolonged activity. More for like a work, break, work, break situation. Also it takes forever to dry, not swamp friendly in that regard either. I'll give it another go around in the swamp. To see how it does there. But I am not impressed. I'll probably stick with the pants while wearing a sun shirt for hot and humid environments.

Thanks for your inputs! How would you say it rates against the IHWCU in your experience? We deal with a good bit of humidity at my home station and while wearing body armor it was an improvement over the standard OCP uniform. It’s not as breathable as a combat shirt, but held up better against the dense vegetation.
@daenudaenu3953 ай бұрын
@@Paddy_Tac hello, I had this uniform in mind for civilian purposes in very wet, humid and hot conditions doing rigorous labor. It wouldn't cross my mind to wear anything heavier than the M20. So I can't comment on a IHWCU comparison. I might try out a combat shirt in the future. Also during my run I also opened all pockets, removed all Velcro patches, but it's still not breathable enough imo. I might repeat with rolled up sleeves and pants. For the environment it's advertised for it just soaks up too much imo. Be it sweat, rain, or swamp water. I would never want to be caught in the rain with this, feel like I'd start to lose body temp too fast. For longer stays in the swamp it does not dry fast enough either imo.

As an ANG dude, whomever were in the ANG team were the wrong people. They never seem to select the right folks from the ANG when it comes to planning for the future fight.

@@Stonewall715 I can say that the 107th Red Devils did a FARP/ICT really well! But I have no idea what the unit that decided a Command Post troop out there was thinking. We ran into this when it came to the FOS training in 2020. Different squadrons were sending folks out to us cause “they’re needed”. No they were not, but it looked good on EPRs and OPRs to say your squadron was doing MCA stuff…

@@Paddy_Tac, thanks for the reply. Not sure I’ve ever commented via YT before, but I genuinely appreciated your video. I’ve already shared it to some folks in our IG shop as well as our SFS. I’d love to be able to dive deep into this and get your thoughts, but this stuff is mostly out of my lane now. However, I can provide some influence, so there definitely is real value in your videos.
