How deep does the mine go ? What road do you take to get there
@jsweet777Ай бұрын
1/2 mile. The road doesn't have a name that I know of, but it's the first right turn after passing Cleator when heading in the direction of Crown King. I show it on the map near the start of the video.
@jsweet777Ай бұрын
Actually the road is named Fs9210a.

If there was truly that much in the waste piles someone would have already bought it and processed it out for a huge profit.

We used to Jeep around there about 50 years ago. Some of the buildings were still standing and it was a great place to just relax, sit in the creek and watch the summer go by.
@HelloThere-vo6en9 ай бұрын
Thanks for filming the entire route John. I watched it all and it seems like my 2WD Nissan Armada, with upgraded all terrain tires, can do this route from Seven Springs to the I17 at Table Mesa Road. Do you or anyone else agree? In other words I didn't see any rock crawling or deep sand. Only some rocky washes where I would need to drive very slow. But it's been 7 years since this video was made so maybe some washes got worse? I really like this trail, from viewing the video, and I'm going to try it soon.
@jsweet7773 ай бұрын
Did you ever make the drive in your Armada? How was it? I drove it a couple years ago in my Jeep and seemed like there were more washouts and was pretty rough in places but a 2WD might make it if not on a muddy day.
@HelloThere-vo6en2 ай бұрын
@@jsweet777 I tried it one day, coming from the I17 side, with my 4wd Ram which has a better suspension. After approx. 2 or 3 miles it got way too rough for what I was looking for. This trail is best for a SxS or dirt bike, but I still may try it again coming from the 7 Springs side, to see if I can go farther. Thanks for asking.

Thank you for the educational video! To hell with the nay sayers. It worked no one lost an eye and you gained new skill.
@jsweet7773 ай бұрын
Yeah, to hell with them. Nowadays I've got a winch, 37 in tires a bunch of upgrades, but still pushing the limit of where I can go. The Jeep has opened up a lot of opportunities and fun times and still going strong.

Excuse me. The Monte Cristo Lode Mine is Not Abandoned, I own it. Had it since 2015 when I bought it from the previous owner. It is very much active and up to date. Just because you don't see me out there 24/7 doesn't mean I'm not there. Also the mine has been victim to Thieves who keep taking my signs down, stealing the metal off the buildings and digging at night to reach lower tunnels.
@jsweet777 Жыл бұрын
Hi Gary. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the thievery at Monte Cristo. I can assure you I took nothing from that site (but I did take some samples from the other mine in the video). So can you provide a link to the best source for determining mining claim locations, because I looked on Yavapai Co. assessor map gis.yavapaiaz.gov/v4/map.aspx?search= and saved the screenshot updated as the thumbnail to this video. The map clearly shows Monte Cristo lies on BLM land with no mining claims at the old mining site. Furthermore the documentation I found about the history says all the lower levels are flooded,. I don't know how deep one can go before running into the water, but the amount of water was the reason that mining was discontinued. I know some people can make a living processing the dump piles using modern methods to extract precious metals, but again I saw no signs of recent activity. But I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and am curious what you think i should rely on the assessor map, or if there is a more accurate map somewhere. Looks like the recent wildfires destroyed what was left of the buildings except for the metal shop. How are you working the mine, and where do you take the ore to be processed? I'd like to learn more about mining, and am willing to work for free for opportunity to learn more about prospecting and small mining operations. It would be fun to be able to make some money out of a hobby, or better yet, live off grid and work underground where it's nice and cool without paying for air conditioning.

@@jsweet777 Also the accuracy of that map by the county is maybe accurate for 90 days as of their NOI "noticed of intent" plan is good for 90 days as for holding a claim before you either claim it or let it go. That gives you enough time to check everything out.
@LIGHTOFTHEWORLD7772 ай бұрын
May I have permission from you to dig in dumps and look around?

You're full of it. It is indeed abandoned just like the vast majority of them are all throughout that area.

@L4M858 check with the BLM, I own it. As a matter of fact look at AMC #453816. That's the Arizona Mining Claim #453816. I also filed all my Permits and Reclamation fees and I'm putting up Gates and Fences. I just put a New Road up the Middle

I have driven 700+ HP cars, but in a closed track, and with a pro driver. The driver is definitely at fault. He couldn’t handle the car. Yeah, accidents happen - but he is still responsible. The organizer…no doubt there. He should also be in prison for not providing and enforcing safety…ie, keeping the people away from the drag strip/road, WTF the driving on. And lastly - the people. Only idiots would stand that close to danger. They are at fault for putting their own lives in jeopardy.

Along Table Mesa Road , a set of HUGE boulders exist immediately to the north of the Road. It's about 2/3s the way to 7 springs from I-17. It's a common stop for most Jeep groups. But it's a Hohokam Ruin. Would love to see you document it with your drone. I live in FL now.
