Poor dude...he rather keep pushing on tour than let the fans down...unfortunately all the glottal attacks cought up to him and fucked his voice...but he relearned to sing healthier and still can throw in distortion that sounds bad ass just not for an entire song lol

It's 2024 and somehow Jaymz sounds better than he has in decades
@unspeakyАй бұрын
There's a few reasons for that: 1. They've played in Eb tuning since 1995 because it's easier on his voice. 2. He does vocal warmups before recording and going on stage. 3. He takes vocal lessons and has a coach. He doesn't just go out there and scream the lyrics into the mic. He actually knows what notes to hit, sing in key, and he has reduced the snarl in his voice. Without all this he well could've ended up like axl rose.
@duncanmillichip648Ай бұрын
Sadly people and management made that voice crumble by over performing and way to much touring. Basically the same with Axl Rose. He could still resemble a Axl rose voice during ACDC then it went down hill through to much touring. Management, and the general public wanting more more and more. Basically anyone who is pushed to the limits breaks eventually. Remember James was still drinking heavy, while still angry over Cliffs death and doing show after show. Anyone breaks eventually.

They were doing wayyy too much in 92-94. All of the nineties really. You sell 3, or 4 million records and management is like, "well you can sell- 10 million just keep touring". Then, that becomes 15 million or 20 million copies and your grandkid's, grandchildren never have to work again. It destroys many bands and few survive that course. Whether management, or financial greed it will kill any band not prepared, and no one is ready for 17, or 18 million copies sold of ONE album. Kirk got hooked on harder drugs slowly around 92, and had issues for decades. As a teen, he smoked pot, and took acid but in the 90s, he was off the hook with rumours of heroin and ecstasy. Him and Lars behavior then was questionable, with the two tongue kissing each other and cuddling in underwear in photos. That was the drugs. They all smoked weed in the 80s, every photo session from 85 on, they were hella stoned, Cliff was the weed guru and later on, Especially Jason. But Kirk; He's still weird from them, you can tell. Jason got screwed up a bit later on pills, James loved booze, and Lars loved cocaine. You just didn't hear about their early rehab stints. By 1988, they were all using coke and Lars was ravaged a bit considering he did all the thousands of interviews mainly back then, and it basically killed his playing level around, 1995. So James, having vocal issues was the least of their problems then. His voice is way better now than the last twenty years and Kirk is still permanently a bit weird.

This millenials with their clicks and their sequences. They hear a HUMAN playing and they can't stand it. Tempo fluctuations are a normal thing if you don't play to a click.
@Chrishagen2 ай бұрын
@@RGK93 I’m 51 and first saw Metallica live in 1989. Back then Lars could still play. The dude didn’t look after himself, simple as that. Look at Charlie Benante, John Tempesta or Paul Bostaph - same generation as Lars and no tempo issues.
@RGK93Ай бұрын
@@Chrishagen Forget about live performances try to listen to The Police, Iron Maiden or even AC/DC albums to a click track, you'll see it doesn't really match and no one dares to call those bad drummers. It's only wrong if Lars does it. And he can still play, watch any recent performance. You people could watch jazz improvisation and cry because the tempo isn't perfect. I'm sick of the click police, get a life.

A voice crack is one of the most horrendous and uncontrollable things that can happen to a vocalist. You know immediately that it’s happened, you know you sounded like a squeaky twat and there is nothing you can do about it🤣 It’s quite telling that most of these seem to be from the Black album tour which lasted nearly 3 years so I’m not surprised his voice was giving out on him.

Give me one example of a metal band at that era lip syncing. Most bands probably would have canceled the tour tho.
@robnoxious85942 ай бұрын
@@Henoxen I will refer you to a KZbin video titled "Rock Bands Caught Lip Syncing on Stage" on a channel called Heavi. I'd post a link but KZbin hates that. Examples include: Kiss, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fozzy, W.A.S.P., and more. Not all are technically what I'd call "metal" bands, but my point remains the same, and my comment never referenced "metal" bands specifically, though there certainly are a multitude of examples that could be presented. These are just a few examples. A little bit of simple research will certainly reveal more culprits. I would encourage you to do your own research, instead of demanding others do your homework for you. +drops mic+ (it wasn't even plugged in anyway). 🎤

Poor bastard We lost a hell of a good voice Still can't believe how he's healed since. The early 2000s were fucking rough but I want to say the Hardwired tour his voice became more powerful, was it as gritty and rough as 1988-1991, no but jesus listen to Inamorata. When I first heard that I was genuinely shocked at how amazing he sounded there.
