The trade credit for an Elys2 is $40 towards an Nd5 but that offer is only good in the United States until the end of the year. After the 1st of the year, Elys cartridges can only be traded towards a rebuilt Elys while supplies last.

The inner dimension should be at least 3/16 of an inch and the outer dimension should be no more than 7/16 inch, which covers most standard-sized spades. Sorry for the confusion, they were new to our store at the time we made this video. Several of the “entry-level” A-S units were released back in 2014, but with them being “dumb” amps with no streaming, there’s no big push to update something that doesn’t need updating. The higher end of the A-S line, like the A-S1200, was introduced around 2020 while the latest “smart” amps in the R-N line were introduced earlier this year. Thanks for watching!

@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys Ай бұрын
Not a daft question at all, we get exactly this question all the time! The Planar 3 does not have an integrated phono preamp so it is always in phono mode and needs an external phono preamp, either stand-alone or built in to your amplifier. If your turntable has a switch, in phono mode it needs to be plugged into a phono input and in line mode it would need to be plugged into any other non-phono input. Hope this helps!

I was able to get better results sometimes by forcing the app to stop, clearing cache, and opening it back up, but that doesn't always work. So which one comes with remote and pre amp function and what are the sub frequency settings 🤔
@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys Ай бұрын
Great questions! Neither comes with a remote, though the Bluesound RC1 (available separately for $59) will work with them both. The free BluOS app is the main way of controlling these streamers. Both can be used as a preamp if connected directly to a power amp or a pair of powered speakers, but the Node Nano does not have any inputs other than the built-in streaming. The Node has a combo analog/optical input as well as an HDMI eARC input. Both can also be set to fixed line-level output if connected to an integrated amplifier, preamplifier, or receiver. The Node Nano does not have a subwoofer out, but the Node does and the crossover frequency can be set between 40-200 Hz. Thanks for watching!
@andrewz925
@andrewz925 Ай бұрын
 @HiFiBuys It's also worth noting that the subwoofer output does not have adjustable volume or phase, both of those have to be done on the subwoofer itself, unless they plan on adding that in via future firmware updates. Adjustable volume meaning independent of the primary volume control. It's gets louder and quieter with the primary volume as you would expect. In addition, the subwoofer output is always on, turning it "on" in the app settings turns the crossover on. You can leave the subwoofer "off" and adjust the crossover on your sub if you wanted to. The advantage of turning the sub "on" is that it splits up the frequencies between the sub output and mains, rather than giving both outputs full-range playback.

What is the difference between the Kube MIE subwoofer range and the KC62 other than Uni-Core? What I'm trying to determine is if there are any situations which would make the Kube 8 MIE better suited for me than the KC62? Or what scenarios would the KC62 be better for me over the Kube 8 MIE?
@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys Ай бұрын
I can't think of a single reason to buy the Kube 8 MIE over the KC62 other than the price. The KC62 is more accurate and produces more impact than the Kube 8. In a large room, the Kube 12 MIE or Kube 15 MIE would likely be a better pick than the KC62 as they move more air and can pressurize large spaces better than the smaller drivers on the KC62, but I don't think there is any application where a KC62 wouldn't perform better than the Kube 8.

@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys Ай бұрын
Changing a replaceable stylus is and should be very easy. Our point was explaining the reasoning behind Rega not offering a replaceable stylus on these cartridges when offerings from other manufacturers do offer that convenience. No matter how well designed, a replaceable stylus will result in lesser tolerances than a cartridge body that is one solid piece. This is far from the only thing that matter when it comes to choosing a cartridge, we only hoped to share Rega's reasoning behind their design choice. Happy listening!

@@HiFiBuys Rega want you to purchase a brand new cartidge where other manufacturers such as Ortofon will let you just change the stylus
@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys Ай бұрын
@ohyesitsme I’m glad you brought this up as a lot of people think similarly but don’t realize that Rega’s solution comes to basically the same cost as a replaceable stylus. Taking an Ortofon 2M Black ($695 MSRP) vs Rega Nd5 ($675 MSRP), which is as close to equal as those lines get, a 2M Black Stylus costs $633 while a renewed Nd5 (brand new stylus with a used outer body) costs $575. You do have to align a new cartridge with Rega’s approach, but the sound quality improvement and the fact that Rega’s three point mounting makes that very easy, makes it worth the minor hassle. A lot of companies out there do things that would be considered “anti-consumer” (not talking about Ortofon here, we love their cartridges too!) so I’m not surprised by your assumption, but the Rega approach is actually a better deal for better sound. Thanks for watching!

Either would be a great fit for a room that size! The demo spaces that we have both speakers in are similarly sized - the Q7s are in a 16x19 room and fill it beautifully, and the Q11s are in a 14x16 room and don't overwhelm the space at all (unless you really crank them up of course 😅). If the budget allows for it the Q11s will give you deeper bass extension and great impact from your music and movies. If you are in the Atlanta area, we'd love to demo them side by side for you so that you can experience the difference for yourself and decide if it is worth it for your system. Hope this helps!

Is there an option to have metal spikes with these speakers rather than rubber ones? Also do the grills on the Q7 metas cover the entire cabinet? Or do they just come down past the drivers to partially cover the front in the same way the R series do by leaving half of the cabinet from uncovered.

KEF isn't offering metal spikes for the Q-Meta Series at this point, but the rubber feet are a standard sized threaded bolt, so I'm sure that there are spikes available from other places that would fit and work perfectly if you have thick carpet. For the Q7 Meta, the grill does not cover the entire cabinet, it covers from the top edge past the bottom woofer which ends up being about 80% of the face of the speaker.

@HiFiBuys
@HiFiBuys 2 ай бұрын
Everything does vibrate but not everything vibrates to a point that isolating it is worth addressing. The sound coming from our record rack vibrating is so low in energy that it is impossible to detect over other more obvious contributors to the (considerably low) noise floor in the room like HVAC. If you’re able to hear your records vibrating on the shelves, then you’ve done some incredible work to remove or block other sources of noise, likely at a far greater cost than an HRS rack.
