I was listening to the version of this from the ECM live album yesterday, with my daughter (I'm a bassist, she's a drummer). We played it twice because it's so compelling (and fun). And now a new version!

Will, that’s top! One of my daughters is a drummer too. Amazing! This beat (and Kaspar‘s way of playing it) is probably one of the most elaborated one although I wrote it totally intuitively in relation to the piano pattern and bell. 🫵🏻🙏🏻👂🏻🎶🥁👌🏻

Ah yes sounds great - It's interesting that for me it took some time to connect to this style of music, I had a CD for few years and rarely played it until suddenly one day I though Holy Moly this sounds fantastic.

Und dann schnall ich endlich, dass der Bursche am Bass beim Schaffhauser-Dschäß-Festival 18 .. Thomas Jordy ist, mit dem ich in Berlin schon über Joni zu tun hatte. @@nikbaertsch 12x7 - also wiederholt sich nur alle 84? Märrsi! Hab inzwischen noch Modul 58 gehört. SO GEIL! Ich kenne bisher nur wenig in dieser Richtung. Hab aber früher als Keyboarder, Drummer und Bassist viel in Logic mit verschachtelten Loops gemacht. Von daher verzeih mir den vielleicht stereotypen Vergleich zu P.Glas/S.Reich (die ich auch super finde) Aber mich flasht an Euren Sachen, dass es - für meine Wahnnehmung - mehr Groove, Funk, Soul hat und nicht so rational/mechanisch wie deren Sachen daherkommt. Das wird die nächste Zeit einen WESENTLICHEN Einfluss auf meine Sachen haben. Keine Angst, ich mach nie Cover-Versionen ... 🤣
