sorry...ich würd nen Futterbeutel einnähen...so siehts unschön aus...
@AroundTheYear3 күн бұрын
Gute Idee!

Great idea. I buy the lace at the fabric store. I also buy some trim, cut the lace in a triangle (sort of), and hand-stitch the trim. I've made three and going on my 4th. I did make a mistake with one because the lace was too stiff, so buy lace that is free-flowing for sure. It's nice to say a prayer while hand-stitching as well. If you can. Remember, tradition tells us that Our Lady was a seamstress. Blessings.

Thank you for your lovely comment! I have since also made a two mantillas from new lace fabric, one trimmed and one untrimmed. You're right - the flowiness is very important. I still need to add a little comb to mine, as they're very slippery! I didn't know about this tradition about Mary, though I did see pictures where she's sewing. It would make sense though, considering the patience needed for sewing!

Wow loved this video everybody looks so good the sewing must have taken so long! You look lovely! How long did you have to prepare? I hear tickets are really hard to get and go very quickly!
@AroundTheYear21 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, the tickets do sell out very fast. This year, I think only two were left at the official "launch", all the others were snapped up by previous ball-goers. It took months for me to make my dress, as it has so many parts, however I didn't really work on it that consistently. I got it done a few days before the ball, but many others were sewing through the weekend right till the last second!

Hello I am sorry to let you know that I cannot see what you are doing. The camera seenscto focus only part of your hands while you are beading. Half the time the camera only show half your hand and even when your camera focus on your hand, your fingers seem to be hidden from you doing the beading. I feel so frustrated as I love your earrings pattern. Hope by giving you the feedback, you will improve on the beading tutorial. Thank you very much.
@AroundTheYear18 күн бұрын
Thank you for pointing that out! I have a beading diagram on my website that might help show the parts that were unclear in the video: aroundtheyear.com/beaded-stars-gorgeous-easy-christmas-diy-ornaments-you-have-to-try/ I hope this helps, and I apologize for the bad camera setup. Good luck beading!

Thank you so very very much for making and sharing this video. I am watching it from Los Angeles. :) I am planing to spend the Christmas and New Year's Eve in Paris, for the first time. I told my brother today who has a house in Paris that I will be looking for a Victorian Ball in Bath. Then I came across your video. I will be taking the train too. I will be looking for a Ball in Austria. You can check out the Victorian Ball that is held in November in Pasadena. I took a few short videos and loaded up on you tube. Look for "Victorian Ball Pasadena November 2023". Love your dress and you mookee beaufuful and elegant. I shared your excitement when you started your video at the train station. ❤❤❤

Don't forget to pay attention to glove length. That might seem minor, but glove length was very particular to the period. Very nice, thanks for the video.
@AroundTheYearАй бұрын
Great point! As far as I could find out, evening gloves increased in length starting in the 1860s, transitioning from earlier wrist-length styles to the eventual way-above-elbow length as seen in the 1890s. Which length would suggest for a gown from between 1862-1865?
@kathleenmary1000Ай бұрын
@@AroundTheYear Keep them short into the 1870s. Length increases during early 1870s through the end of the century. Thanks again for the lovely video!

Thank you for sharing with us your adventure! I really enjoyed watching with my morning coffee. You looked beautiful! Just a note about budget constraints. My grandmother was poor most of her life and always had to "make due" with what she had. She was very creative and always dressed fashionable because sewed her own clothes and was always making over hand-me-down clothes. I hope you continue to sew throughout your life and dream big.

This is very well done. I see H.R.H. Emperor Franz Josef and H.R.H. Empress Elisabeth graced you with their presence. A ball of this stature is not a proper ball without a Viennese touch. The Strauss family were the Beatles of the era and their works were known worldwide. Nice that Josef Strauss' "Feuerfest Polka" was featured. Might I suggest more of their compositions for the 2025 season; Eduard Strauss' "Bahn Frei Polka" is a great party piece....and maybe a larger orchestra (obviously funds permitting). Good luck for next year. Great stuff😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3aql4uelJKfZrMsi=B3tLL-JHJIqH_GU2

No, I don't think so. As far as the ball gown was concerned I think some of us even tried not to give too much away (myself included) so there would be a grand reveal on the night. But colour coordinating would be a fun idea for one of the coming years!
