I love seeing the before and after. Your point about how builders tend to place speaker drops where they think they’re best suited is spot on. I have found that’s usually not where home theater aficionados need them. I also find they pull a lower quality speaker cable. Almost always 16 AWG. The room turned out nice and the most important thing is the customer is happy

So could you still manage to produce excellent results with Theory Speakers + Amps running through the pre-outs of an AVR utilizing room correction like Dirac, etc? Or is it considered a waste to use Theory Speakers + Amps without their own controllers and built-in “Theory Room Correction” ? Thanks very much!

He said “When your streaming your not getting Atmos.” 😂😂 and then proceeded to say “It says your getting Atmos, but your not getting Atmos. Such a pathetic and misinforming video. Blu-ray player - $100 and up capable of true hd Atmos 4K AppleTV - $129 to $149 is a steaming device than can deliver Atmos albeit it is compressed (most people wouldn’t even notice. Kaleidescape - not a streaming device, but an overpriced storage device with access to the lossless downloads. Approximately $10,000 or more for complete setup. I don’t have that kind of money to throw down on a luxury item. If I did I would, hell just for bragging rights😂 If I want lossless audio I’ll just buy the Blu-ray, but I’m okay with streaming also and I can tell a difference with my system. But I can buy a hell of a lot of movies with the money saved. Not to mention I can also build a storage system and burn my disks to it for a lot less than the cost for Kaleidescape. If the price comes down to a more reasonable level I will consider it then.

Blind or no blind test Apple TV does not compare. Just on spec alone you can tell that. Apple TV has highly compressed audio and video and requires an internet connection to stream. Kscape you are downloading a lossless file to your personal server that does it require internet connect to play back.

I prefer disc from a quality perspective. Kscape is just as good from my vantage point. That aside, I think disc is all but dead now and steaming will prevail for many reasons. I question the long term viability of Kscape. The fought through financial troubles once prior but now there were limited options back then. Today for many, AppleTV is good enough and it will only get better in time. I also don’t want to have to buy movies again.

In some instances the Kscape downloads are better than disc. I repurchased some movies I own on disc and I can tell in some instances that the picture and color is better along with better audio. A lot of times the mass market disc releases home mixes get highly compressed and since Kscape has some control over the compression of the mezzanine file they can limit the amount of compression that is applied to their files.

I’ll never go back to discs as long as Kscape is around. My oppo udp205 hasn’t been used since I got Kscape. Only disc I watch are some 3D movies I own on discs.

I know this first hand, trust me on this KZbin with compression you cannot really distinguish much of a difference, in person between AppleTV or any streaming service and Kaleidescape there is ZERO comparison.

With audio, yes, fully agree. With video, hard to tell a difference on average scenes but there are low light scenes where the differences are more discernable

There's a comparison in price.... ridiculously so. Why the hell they're trying to pitch something that costs an obscene amount of money and will be well out of the general publics financial reach against a Streamer that's less than £150 is beyond me.... totally different audiences for both products. I'll take a 4k Disc or 1:1 Remux via Plex anyday of the week over that financial obscenity. 😂😂

3:43 such moobs , mine is all JBL professional cinema THX 2nd hand and was light years cheaper , firstly home theatre isn't a luxury if anyone believes that then you are deluded like they are and yes mine also includes the real professional cinema THX and this room doesn't plus the atmos speakers , i mean speakers used for overheads , mine m my layout is far better exceeds the normal dolby spec that is way , way better anyway i seen enough here , atmos has been around for 12 years and i've not even seen mkII improvement

Kscape is not just a player. You also need a server to download the file and the player is used to play. With the newer models they separated the player from the server and now offer SSD hard drive with downloads in minutes. THATS IMPRESSIVE!

@@davonfranklin5158 k scale is not a streamer. It is. They play back lossless movies that are download to your local Kscape server and you can play back on your k scape player. Once they are downloaded you do not need an internet connection. Streamers like Apple TV, Roku and the likes are streamers that require an internet connection and are highly compressed in order to stream the same content to the masses. Even if you buy a movie from say ITunes, you still need an internet connection and you also own a lossy version of the movie

If you have to tell people what's different it's not enough to be worth the cost.....Also Apple TV 4k indeed does do Dolby ATMOS, might want to make sure you have it set up properly if it's not working for you.

I own both Apple TV and Kscape 6TB Stratro S. Atoms on Apple TV vs Kscape is compressed which is a Dolby digital plus variant. So Kscape is still better in that respect. Apple TV while good for what it is is not even close to kscape

@@brucecarter6205 in some instances the Kscape downloads are better than even disc and probably has to do with the way they implement compression vs disc May be more compressed to fit the extras along with the feature. Kscape is not limited by storage. I have a bunch of movies I own on disc that I repurchase and can tell the difference. The joker was one of them that I really notice better clarity and color saturation. The sound for whatever reason was also more dynamic and open on Kscape even though they were the same Dolby true HD codec. If you don’t own a Kaleidescape then I assume you have not done a side by side or I could be wrong.

I think if you are starting your theater journey to audition towers, and not marry them by going in wall with a little more install effort. However, you were right that if he went in-wall, the acoustic transparent screen would have made sense with a larger screen. VERY hard to light that screen that big though.

I bought this after watching this video and I have to say, it was a disappointment. Some songs it sounded amazing but others it was just awful. Bass is incredible but vocals were muffled and the details in the mid range were weak. I ended up returning it for a Naim Mu-so 2 and IMO is far better than the RS150. However, the RS250 blows the 150 and the Mu-so out of the water, but is also out of my price range. The 150 is a great speaker but didn’t work well for the music I listen to.

We ran out of amplifier to run the theory subs. The system as designed used all channels for speakers. It was more cost effective to buy two powered subs than to get another set of amps with the passive subs. We have a theory 9.4.6 home theater in our new showroom. We have all the power needed for 4 sb15 subs.
