am i supposed to read them in the order he presented them?
@OneWheelchairX17 күн бұрын
up to you really, I presented the books in the order they were released, however it’s not essential to read in a particular order - X-Men and Uncanny X-Men are currently crossing over but it’s made clear on the order, so don’t worry!

Haven't finished the video yet but I'm manifesting a Surge death. God PLEASE be a Surge death
@dunemayberger221024 күн бұрын
I felt like it would be Surge before I read it, but I was kinda hoping that it would be Betsy or Rachel because their deaths would hit harder. Surge would feel a little like fridging, killing her for other characters’ development. I’ve read #5 and I’m mostly glad that it isn’t a metaphorical death and doesn’t seem like the person will come back the next issue :p

I agree with all of this and it surprised me honestly, that the person is still dead. Definitely feels permanent or at the very least something that might be reversed eventually, but it’s got to be earned and might take the team some time to make it happen.

If you want to keep a healthy relationship with the X-Men after 97 then read the old stuff. I’ve been reading monthly for 30 years and they followed up the worst era of X-Men (Krakoa) with an even worse era of X-Men (From the Ashes). Buy trades, dig through dollar bins, read older stories digitally. Just don’t waste your money on the new stuff. It’s nothing like X-Men 97.

I'm a new reader! I started reading Uncanny X-Men, which then led me to watch Xmen '97. I know this process is a bit backward, but I'm enjoying my journey so far. Now that I'm in the rabbit hole, I can't wait to discover more about the past.

i love how magik has biff with pretty much every mutant at this point haha like how in first pages of the New Mutants in 2019 she teleports into the x academy to get the team back together and all the students were literally like "what the hell is she even doing here? bro we all have independent reasons to hate you" lmao
@OneWheelchairX4 ай бұрын
That’s what she gets for dragging all the young X-Men to Limbo! But then she had the main team concerned she’d do something world-ending so they had her strapped to a bomb jacket 😭 that 2008-2012 period really was a wild time for Magik

Liked this first issue overall, but as a shipper of David/Tommy since Gillen's run on Young Avengers, I can't help but be bugged by the off-screen break-off, especially since a series like this would be such a great spot for him as somebody who's always had a rather complex relationship with his own mutant identity. Honestly, I could have seen Tommy filling Sophie's role here, which could have added an extra layer to the disapproval of David's actions.
@OneWheelchairX4 ай бұрын
That’s a fair point, he definitely would have added something unique to group! I know the writers said one of the main reasons they broke them up was that Tommy’s super-speed would be TOO useful in these situations and get things done with ease, logically so… but it would have been nice to have him involved

Good thing you popped up on my feed, I just recently started a full read of everything X-Men. Gonna keep up with what you're putting out (hopefully you still are doing content). With Storm going to Avengers, what other past runs of Avengers had X-Men be integral to the plot? I ask because I'm still debating on whether to include the Avengers on my full read (which would add thousands of comics to an already stacked list 😂) solely because of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
@OneWheelchairX14 күн бұрын
Now I don't have the same level of knowledge about the Avengers as I do the X-Men, but off the top of my head: The Uncanny Avengers (2013-2024) runs all are the most X-Men adjacent as they have had many X-Men team members (Rogue, Sunfire, Cable, Havok, Sabretooth etc.) and their main objective was to be a team of mutants and humans working together. Avengers Vol 4 (2012) was where Storm first joined the Avengers half way through the run, and that was around the time of Avengers vs X-Men, but she wasn't on the team for long, due to... AvX (lol) Avengers Vol 5 (2013) had Sunspot and Cannonball as Avengers but I wouldn't say the X-Men were integral, they were pretty separated from all of that. Oh and of course, Wolverine has been a member of the Avengers since New Avengers (2006) but... that's just Wolverine. There was an Avengers/X-Men crossover in 1993 called Bloodties which was about Magneto's Acolytes fighting the Avengers and kidnapping Quicksilver's daughter, so that's something you could check out if you like - it's been awhile since I've read it though so I'm not sure about the quality...

Okay i need some help, i want to read the new era but im very confused. Are all these series happening at the same time? And if they are how is wolverine on the uncanny xmen and in his own solo run in the wild at the same time? Also, im a new xmen reader and i dont know what happened before all this with the island and all that, so i feel kind of lost.
@BowmansWorld4 ай бұрын
How os Wolverine gonna do his solo and be on the team book
@OneWheelchairX4 ай бұрын
I’m going to assume that the first arc of Wolverine probably takes place before Uncanny X-Men starts BUT this happens all the time with Logan. There was a moment when Wolverine was on the X-Men, the Avengers and his own solo all at once, so usually you’ve just got to not get caught up in timings of it all!

Hey I’m reading through uncanny X men and loving it. I’m at issue 199 and realized that there’s an ongoing new mutants run alongside this one but I would like to stick to one ongoing book if possible. Can I just stay with uncanny X men until 297 and at which point do I need to venture out to other books?
@OneWheelchairX4 ай бұрын
Hey, so I would say you can stick to just Uncanny X-Men up until #239 which is the beginning of the Inferno event. During this, the story in Uncanny flows directly into X-Factor, so it won’t make sense without the other book! The necessary specifics are: Uncanny #239-241, X-Factor #37, Uncanny #242, XF #38, UXM #243 and XF #39! X-Factor has more build up to the event in early issues but these are the only ones you NEED. Lucky for you, this is the first event where the books are crossing over directly, the ones before are separate stories happening at the same time! That’s it until X-Tintiction Agenda, which is a 9-part crossover between Uncanny, New Mutants and X-Factor (starts with Uncanny #270!) and the Muir Island Saga with X-Factor again (starts with Uncanny #278!) I hope this helps and don’t be afraid to comment again if you need any more clarification! 🫶🏻

Even if the tracing wasn’t an issue, which, to be clear, it totally is, I still would’ve wanted a different artist here. Someone with a less traditional style, who could really visualize all this cosmic imagery in a new way. Like a Fiona Staples or a Sean Gordon Murphy, both of him have a really impressive track record when it comes to sci-fi adventure stories. Btw I’m here from Tiktok. Love the vids :-)
@OneWheelchairX4 ай бұрын
Oh yes, I totally get your point! It’s missing that cosmic, out there sort of style, and it would totally help it give it an identity beyond ‘Jean Grey’ book if it had a more experimental look… here’s hoping whoever takes over the art has more fun with the cosmic elements! Nope, while it’s still interconnected, from what I’ve seen so far, all these books are telling their OWN stories, so you’ll be fine just reading the main two! The Sentinels mini might add some context to the Graymalkin Prison villains of Uncanny X-Men but otherwise, you’re all good.
