I have watched a lot of videos and, while I understand the casting on method, I don't understand how it forms a seamless tube for things like socks. At what point do you join the stitches to form the round?

I finished blocking the Falderal shawl yesterday and got to give it to my friend today. She LOVED it and started tearing up. She kept holding it, feeing the lace stitches, experimenting with ways to fold it, and how to drape it over her arm. In short, she's entranced. Thanks for making me look like a superstar by designing and allowing me to buy such a beautiful pattern!

I am finding this video to be absolutely fascinating! I'm an experienced knitter, but a lace newbie and the information is perfect. I do have a question though - at about the 45" mark you mentioned that you wind your balls 3 times for tightness. I have no idea what you mean by that. Do you want a tightly wound ball or are you trying to avoid that and why? Thank you

What style of knitting are you doing, please. It took me forever to figure out that there were different styles of knitting I thought it was just all knitting. And that's why I never did it, because there was too much to learn. Welcome after I had thrown away all of the stuff that I didn't want to do didn't seem fairly natural for me to do as a crochet or I ended up having to (or maybe it was on a whim to as maybe things were dawning on me), look up what style of knitting the Russians do because it turns out my hands -n- mind kinda like the very straightforward approach of Eastern European/ Eastern / Russian knitting! It kind of looks like that's what you're doing, but since I don't speak Knittin'ese, and don't make sense out of patterns, I'm not sure what you are doin'. I'm wondering if you're doing what is called Combination Knitting.

Thank-you for a great pattern. (I have done some MKALs that were so strange that it's tough to wear the finished shawl...so upsetting after buying 4 skeins of fingering!) I was sworn off mystery projects but this one is lovely. ❤

A question- in section A4, Row 15, after the end of the row, (k1tbl) we are still in the middle of the work. Do we turn the work here? Or does row 16 continue on with the next stitch in the original direction? It seems as if we need to turn back if we are going to continue with C2 in the next section.

Thanks for this Romi, I watched this hoping to find out how to unzip the provisional cast on above the braid. Seeing the pictures close up should, I hope, help me get it right. Basically I’m not sure which way the needle should go through the stitches being picked up with right side facing, in from behind, or in from the front? Now I know what it should look like after the purl tbl row, I can work it out after a few stitches. I’m learning a whole raft of new techniques on this cardigan, which I am loving so far. 5 ply was a challenge here in the UK but I love the yarn I found. Thanks again, Angie
