Please wear protective gloves, you have no idea what germs could be in all the lint and dust. It has been hanging around for years, its a breeding ground for all sorts of bugs 😮

What about rodents??? I can't find a video on pest exclusion lol
@dominiondryerventcleaning51222 ай бұрын
These vent covers have a one way damper flap that keeps things from getting into the duct line. That being said, I hope rodents on the roof would be an exceedingly rare concern! Either way, a screen of this sort on a dryer vent is a fire hazard. So keeping pests out has to be dealt with in some other way. And in 15 years of cleaning dryer vents, I think I've seen one dead bird( maybe two?) and one dead bat that got into roof vents like this. All the critters I've seen in dryer vents get into those that vent out the side of the building, either at or above ground level. And rodents are really only a concern for the vents right at ground level. And for that, the best vent covers for keeping them out are those that have multiple flaps rather than the hood style covers with a single flap.

@@dominiondryerventcleaning5122 thx for your response, I just bought a house and doing exclusion work to prevent rodents. I have no current issue...but the previous owner had a rat problem in attic...so i'm going above & beyond to keep that from happening to me. They were careless cus they were renting & did no sealing or maintenance. The house is surrounded by trees, which is a highway for rodents to get on roof...so even though it's "rare" I still think it's necessary to seal & do some exclusion work even on the dryer vent that's on the roof...cus all you need is 1 time for a rat/mouse to enter for it to do minor/major damage to your home. I found 1 video out of many that I watched, which showed a way to use chicken wire surrounding the opening about 6in away from the dryer vent to allow the airflow through & that's what im going to do. Just to be extra safe...i clean my dryer vent every 6 months 🤓👍🏻 just want to be rodent proof the best way I can...thx again.

At the point where the hose isnt actually sucking whats falling out...why even bother having it on?
@dominiondryerventcleaning51224 ай бұрын
Because more than just chunks of lint are coming out. There’s also a whole bunch of dust that would be flying in the air, and on which I would be choking, if the vacuum wasn’t sucking it up. Besides, I tend to think that having the vacuum on creates a sort of white noise that’s better than hearing my breathing or something. 😁

How many vents, on average, do you clean a week?
@dominiondryerventcleaning51225 ай бұрын
I really don't know. Sometimes I'm just doing normal residential and it might be 10 to 15. Last week I was cleaning vents at a large condo complex and I was doing 16 units per day.

Seeing how much that comes out of the vent line is rather impressive. It'd be wonderful to see the volume of what you vacuumed up to give better context of how much was actually in the vent line. How long are each drill extension? How many in total are used? And how long was the vent line? Were you only cleaning the last half in this short, or the whole vent line? Either way it was wonderful to see and you were great on the cleanup!

@roberta49896 ай бұрын
@@dominiondryerventcleaning5122 Yes of course. Inside the vacuum does not really show the full amount as a pile on the ground would.
@dominiondryerventcleaning51226 ай бұрын
I appreciate that! What's funny though is that I focused on showing the inside of the vacuum in this video because that was what one of my subscribers asked for :) I would normally position the camera so that the pile was visible, in this case I simply either didn't look close enough when I set up the camera to make sure that was going to be in view or I may have bumped it after I looked at it. Either way, I appreciate the input and will try to make sure future videos show the whole pile! @@roberta4989

Do hou record every jobs you do
@dominiondryerventcleaning51227 ай бұрын
No, just the cleanings that I think will be worth watching. Some of the cleanings are best done by hooking up my vacuum directly to the duct line on the inside, which means all the lint goes straight into the vacuum, meaning that there is nothing visible to record. In other cases, I'm just doing a maintenance cleaning, meaning that it's a customer that gets it cleaned every year or two to make sure that the lint build up never becomes substantial. In those cases, there's just not enough lint coming out to be interesting. So I just try to identify the ground level vents that are best cleaned from the exterior that look like they have a lot of lint and film those.
