This live was so intense haha. I was sitting for a little bit and my chair was vibrating so hard. Made it more intense. Plus the shrooms lol

the sphere is great for visuals, not so much for sound. I hated that I could hear the murmur of the crowd throughout the performance. really took away from the experience as someone who was equally there for the music.

VSL have fake sympathetic resonance and repeadlling sympathetic resonance. But VSL sound better : don't compare piano with a limited midi file...... it play like a robot.... not nice
@headsman20237 ай бұрын
The synchron 280vc is just so real and authentic❤ the ptq on the other hand sounds so perfect, no noise, no uncontrolled harmonics, it doesn't sound real to me
@Erainia7 ай бұрын
It would have been nice if you'd chosen mic positions that were actleast similar between the two of them, the VSL 280VC is clearly a MUCH further away recording style (Assuming concert setting) whereas the PianoTeq option sounds like it's using close mics, so will naturally sound a lot clearer in the final product, especially for solo piano. I noticed too that the VSL 280VC has a LOT of background noise on your recording where your PianoTeq doesnt, which will naturally lead any normal listeners to believe the PianoTeq sounds "cleaner". I am however very impressed with the performance of this new PianoTeq plugin, and think it is by far the best I've ever listened to, and yes, in this particular demo it does in fact blow the VSL 280VC out of the park. Unfortunately PianoTeq still suffers a lot in it's forte dynamics and loses all sense of realism as the sounds get trapped in the Modelling Piano pitfall of sounding plasticy under harsh dynamics, which you don't get to hear in this demo setting an ideal stage for PianoTeq to shine nicely.
@tommaxwell4297 ай бұрын
I prefer the Pianoteq, it sounds more clear while the VSL sounds a bit muddy. I don't know, it is hard to make an apples to apples comparison since most users will tune to their prefered sound anyway. Cost wise I believe the Pianoteq is cheaper, yes? It's certainly smaller and less of a resource hog.
@mangoldm7 ай бұрын
Yes, the Pianoteq is $50 and the VSL $200-$300 depending on sales. I love them both, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses.
@crisgarrido44367 ай бұрын
We just listened to both and to our ears the Pianoteq version sounded better. There is a singing quality to the sound that is missing in the VSL Bösendorfer.

@mangoldm7 ай бұрын

@fransvannispen91567 ай бұрын
Not really a fair comparison as the reverb and volume is not closely matched. And there needs to be some humanization added to the MIDI for Pianoteq as the VSL has round robins and not every repeated note is the same.
@snurrfint7 ай бұрын
Velocity never reaches higher than 50 in pianoteq. Almost no dyamics in this midi file, and its probably close to impossible to play this song with such a low steady velocity in real life. VSL sounds better and more alive in this comparison.
@agparag7 ай бұрын
Adjusting the dynamics slider could produce the desired results with velocity curve. But overall Pianoteq Bosendorfer is the best in the market.
@snurrfint7 ай бұрын
@@agparag Im a big pianoteq fan. I like the comparison but a different file would have made pianoteq sound better.
@snurrfint7 ай бұрын
@@agparag Nope, the dynamics slider just increases or decreases the difference in volume for low vs high velocity notes. The actual sound being produced is the same. Adjusting it would almost do nothing to this recording as the velocity is largely the same across the board. Turn it all the way up and it would most likely lower the average volume as the velocity is on the lower side in this recording and make some notes stand out a bit more and make others almost completely quiet. It will sound quite bad. You would have to adjust the velocity response curve to achieve what you want, but you did not do this, so the recording doesn't do pianoteq justice.
@GFhornet7 ай бұрын
Modeling vs samples. As usual, known differences. Pianoteq is not for midi playback. Only for live play!
@mangoldm7 ай бұрын
Pianoteq has definite advantages for live play but if there are disadvantages when playing MIDI that’s news to me. I think it’s lovely.
@GFhornet7 ай бұрын
@mangoldm I mean samples are better as sound, and pianoteq better as playable. Maybe I am wrong.
