Could you make a tutorial on how you route the midi controller and VSTs through the looper? Your skills are awe inspiring. Thank you 🙏🏼

Hah! The intro! Saw you on 12 3 23 downtown Front Royal and looked you up. Was not watching the video, too busy trying to figure out why there was no sound. Had my phone up to my ear full volume at the big strum. Was propelled high in my chair, and the clomp of my feet landing on the floor almost gave my wife accross the room a heart attack too. She is a big fan of another guitar guy from Lithuania, but I like you better. Look forward to seeing more of you here in town.

How are you connecting the bass and guitar to the rc202 with the focus right and the audio/mic at the same time? How’s it routing?
@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions Жыл бұрын
The RC-202 has an independent XLR mic input and trim/gain knob for that, and for the guitar and bass, I'm think I just switched the instrument cord from guitar, to bass, and back to guitar in the middle of the tune. That being said, i also have a simple line-switching pedal so I can leave both plugged in and simply use the pedal to switch between them.

Hello dude! Where are you from? I like your tracks and videos, very authentic. Do you create music for your full length albums? I plan to start recording my work soon, as a lot of different material has accumulated. I am also a guitarist. I would be glad to chat if you don't mind and have free time.

The RC202 is awesome, you won't regret it, but maybe think about looking at the RC505 that has 5 tracks. Once i realized how amazing the looper was, i wished I had sprung for the "big boy" version of it.

@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim! For this video I did run the independent instrument tracks through a DAW on my computer, so this one is not live looping performance - just a new take on an old classic. Most of the other video's on the channel are actual live looping builds and arrangements. Thank you for watching and commenting! I suppose I should do a new video soon.

Love this man you nailed it! I was wondering with which connectivity you plug your AKAI MPK Mini to your looper ? I saw before that you need a DAW or a sort of sound module on your computer to get your drums and sounds ready to be played on your keyboard but I cannot find how to link my keyboard (plugged in my computer) to my looper pedal ! Beside that, really great job man ! 😁
@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions Жыл бұрын
Thank you @Sivanaque! I have to admit that I had quite a bit of trouble getting the sound of the module to register as an "input" to the looper, and then have it sent back to a track for recording. In a nutshell, the solution ended up being in the preferences setup for what's assigned as sound device "input" and what's assigned as the playback "output" in the DAW. In my setup of the DAW (Mixcraft 9) I would go to Preferences > Sound Device > then select WaveRT as the "driver", then for the input I would select my Audio Interface (Focusrite USB), and for the playback device I would select "Out (RC202)" which is the name of the loopstation. In addition to that, when you create and "arm" a new track, you also need select which midi device and channel is the recording device input for that new track (again, in my case I would create a new track, then under the "arm" pulldown menu i would select "IN-RC202" (then midi name of my loop station" and then "Left" channel (doesn't matter if you choose left or right, just don't use "stereo" - although it sounds tasty, it will limit your mixing and output options). I should also add that before you even mess with the preferences in your DAW, make sure that the DAW is properly recognizing your AKAI MPK mini, the looper, and your Audio interface (mine is the Focusrite Scarlett6i6) are ALL being recognized as midi devices in the DAW software. If I get up the courage to ever actually "speak" on a video, I may do a tutorial on the specific setup that I use, because it really was like pulling teeth to get all the bits and pieces to work together. I hope this helps!

Did you connect the Akai mini to the RC 202 directly or through your laptop?
@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions Жыл бұрын
Hi Christalazar - The Akai mini has to be connected through the laptop first in order to designate which sound library the pads and keys are assigned to because it is just a midi controller.

Absolute legend, thank you!! Could I ask how you got your drums sounds/samples onto the pads for the Akai MPK Mini? Which software did you use?
@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ross! I uses Mixcraft 9 as my DAW, which is relatively inexpensive and user friendly software for PC users. In Mixcraft I assigned a track for the Midi device (Akai MPK mini controller shown in the video) and assigned "VST Instrument > Omni Sampler", which let me assign a generic/universal drum samples labeled "808" and "909" drum kit sounds to the different pads. There's loads of other drum sounds available on the Mixcraft library, but you can also sample your own sounds, or even download sound for snare, kick, etc. from the web, and then load them to your DAW/midi device pads via the Omni Sampler. The software that came with the AKAI MPK mini is terrible, but the Omni sampler midi instrument allows you to bypass that garbage software and makes assigning different sounds to different pads directly in your DAW pretty simple.

@@CaptiveAudienceProductions Hey ! First of all thanks for your insights, I also have a Akai MPK mini controller but everytime I try to use it in a DAW I get a delay between the moment I press a key and the moment the sound comes out. Sorry if it's a newby question but how do you manage to fix thoses latencies ? Greetings from France ;P
@CaptiveAudienceProductions
@CaptiveAudienceProductions Жыл бұрын
@@ethanrafaty3937 Hello France! There should be a latency adjustment you can make in the preferences of your DAW, but if you're not able to get it low enough to get rid of that noticeable delay, you might want to take look into your computer hardware or sound card BUT please take that advice with a huge grain of salt. I definitely consider myself to be a bit of a DIY newb as well, not an expert at all. Just like you, I'm figuring it out as I go along. Take a little more time menu diving in the preference of your DAW and just mess with the different options around latency and audio out-put configuration.

@@CaptiveAudienceProductions Thanks for the huge reactivity ! I've spent some time on FL and struggled so hard to adjust the latency, I guess i'll try with the DAW you use. Do you think it is necessary to by an external sound card ? Considering that the one I got on my PC is kinda crap

Hi Gary, I route from a headphone output jack on my guitar head to the L/mono Input on the loop station. From there I run from the L/mono Output on the loop station to one of the inputs of my audio interface (Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 is what I use). The audio interface then runs from the USB (firewire I think?) to my computer. This allows me adjust the gain/volume on the input of the loop station, and allows me to adjust it again going into the audio interface to make sure the signal doesn't peak at either of those inputs. I hope this helps!
