Nice demo but I don't think I learned much from that.

@steb74Ай бұрын
@tonywawryka7493 Well, it probably has something to do with it being a lesson and not just a playthrough with tabs slapped on. There are dozens of videos like that. However, I'm more interested in getting into the mechanics behind some of these techniques and offering something with a bit more meat on the bone, for those interested in that kind of thing, of course. Talking is 'unfortunately' necessary to achieve that. Pretty much all of my videos have a lot of talking, so they definitely won't be your thing.

Searched all over for a good description/demo of this first solo - and your presentation is the best I've seen. Great explanation with excellent technique demonstration. Thank you for cracking that code for me.

I thought there was going to be a lesson on how to play the song. I like the way you started out, saying your wanted to test how the song feels... That's what I'm looking for, so i can improvise with it. But there's a lot of "So 'em" instead of saying things. Lots & lots of "em." Maybe it'll get better? I'll keep watching...later. Gotta go right now! Ok, i like what you did there at 8:00! I'll get back to it, i promise! Gotta go!

So many tutorials out there on this one, yours sounds awesome! Many ways to approach this one, and I'm still trying to perfect my version. You've given a lot of the technical details as well, with the little nuances that can be expected in every section of the song. I see that the video is four years old, but I'm glad that I ran across it. I watched another one of yours, "Runaway Boys" by the Stray Cats, which was even more helpful than this. I wish that I had a big hollow body to try these on, but I'll have to settle for my Les Paul with Humbuckers. I'll keep my eye out for more of your tutorials! Great job, thanks for sharing!

Awesome tutorial! I'm obviously a bit late seeing this! I'm assuming that the opening riff running down the low E is palm muted, at least that's how it sounds. I couldn't do mine on a hollow body Gretsch like yours, instead doing it on a Les Paul with hummbuckers. Once I got the slap back dialed in it sounded pretty good! I found this 10 years after you made it but better late than never. Great job, thanks for sharing!

I love your enthusiasm and skill in the way you break down into understandable sections of this song, which captivated me when, as a 15 year old English lad, I watched Eddie play it on his first appearance on Boy Meets Girls in February 1960. Not only a superb guitarist and groundbreaking song writer with Jerry Capehart and his fiancée Sharon Sheeley, but he adapted his Gretsch. Apart from changing the pick-up by the fretboard, according to Joe Brown, who played with Eddie on TV and BBC radio, he replaced his G string with a B, tuned to G, because it was more bendable. And he lowered his 6th string to D, for some songs. Any thoughts on this?
