@@bendavis3194 - I did watch it again with the captions on. That is what I was hoping for, nice to know what the things are I am looking at, thanks. I like flying but I don’t think I would be comfortable being as exposed as I would be in the gyro. Do you have an ‘N’ number and ADS-B out? I’d like to see the altitudes and speeds you are flying.

Only faux pas , its not the Confederate Air Force anymore - they went political correct years ago to Commemorative Air Force, which IMO, changed the entire image of the group and lossed membership.

Hi Ben. Very nice video where you use the capabilities of the 360 well. I have some X3 footage from last year and your work makes me want to do another, better video of my footage. I also fly a MTO Sport (converted MT-03) with the 914 115 HP engine. It's nice you have the integrated coolers with your 100 HP 912 uls. Ususlly the 912 has a stupid cooler right in front of the propeller. This is much better.

Hi Ben, I can't believe how much the PC Airport has grown and the changes made since I was there back in 1984-85. I was the weekend manager. I lived in Easley at the time and worked for the Greenville Hospital System as well as in law enforcement. I am now in Ohio. I'm a commissioner for the Huron County Airport (5A1) located just outside of Norwalk, OH. I fly an AR-1 Gyro. I've been an aircraft private pilot since 1978 but took up the Gyro last year. Would love to fly down to visit sometime. I still have a couple of friends that live in the Easley area. Thanks for the video. Brought back many memories. Great job! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Fly safe!

That's very kind. Glad you enjoyed it. I was just teaching a lesson on Aus. and NZ in my classroom. I used an Insta360 One X2. On the outbound flight I used an extendable selfie stick to get the external views. On the return flight I mounted it high on the mast. The phone app or computer app allows you to select the views and effects afterwards. Then you can put the clips together with tunes and transitions in any video software program.

Great job! I'm almost at the stage to solo mine. I've got an AR-1, Corvette Yellow, with a Rotax 912ULS. Based at 88D, Hinde Airport in Huron, OH. Home of EAA Chapter 50. I hope to fly down to the Charlotte area this coming summer. Maybe I'll head down your way for a visit! Have a Happy New Year!

Sure enjoyed your flight and camera work Ben. It was fascinating to see from the air Hogback, Tryon Peak, and White Oak mountain that I am so familiar with from the ground. Just 3 weeks ago I hiked 8 miles RT on Hogback Mountain Road from near Hoghead Mountain to Hogback. Many Thursdays after being at the St. Luke's infusion center, I drive up Skyuka Mountain Road on to White Oak Mountain Road and back down, hiking at several trails along the way where I photograph butterflies and search for rare Appalachian species of butterflies. Sweet ride. Where is the rotor speed gauge. I’ve been studying gyros for a while. It seems a lot of trike guys are switching to gyros, because they handle wind better. You get more flying time with less work. Look foward to getting a closer look at your new ride.
@bendavis3194 Жыл бұрын
Clockwise from the left: airspeed, fuel, engine RPM, rotor RPM, oil pressure, oil temperature, compass, altimeter, pneumatic pressure (trim).

Be warned. Don't pay too close attention to his RRPM. Follow the example of this guy and you will be a tail-strike statistic. If you are still moving and your RRPM gets to 150, either stop, or blip the prerotator because you are in blade-flap territory. The standards of gyro training in the USA are utterly abysmal and this is why they have such a poor safety record.
@JeremyBechtoldАй бұрын
@@halfrhovsquared On his takeoff roll, his RRPM may have dropped to 190, but it's hard to see. It definitely didn't get as low as 150.
@halfrhovsquaredАй бұрын
@@JeremyBechtold - I didn't say that it did, only that if it gets below 150 to either stop or blip the prerotator to stay out of blade-flap territory and my comment suggests that this guy's rotor-management leaves a lot to be desired. I'd have to watch the video again to see why I made that comment as I wrote it over a month ago and I cannot remember exactly what prompted me to write it. -- Having just watched it again, on his taxi back in, he got as low as 120RRPM whilst still moving over uneven ground. That is a great way to chop off the top of your tail. I've seen the results of a tailstrike at a much higher RRPM than 120 (around 170 - 180).
