I remember my dad pointing out the red head freshman at UCLA, telling me he's the next "Lew Alcindor," and that was true. Arguably greatest college player ever. And Trailblazer championship year was arguably greatest season a center ever had. If his feet didn't go bad he would be mentioned in same breath as Jabbar.

I don't think He was that good of a player. There were many more centers and many more players better than him. If you look his statics numbers He was more like any another average NBA player. But one thing is true. He has great personality.

I am at a loss for words. Bill was beyond categorization. I knew him before I knew basketball, because he came to visit me in the UCLA hospital when I was a little kid in 1974. Ever since then, he has been part of my life in one way or another spreading good cheer and good memories. Thank you, Bill, for all the basketball and human lore that you shared with us. You will always be remembered and glasses will be raised in your honor.

RIP but suicide is for cowards. Mental health blah blah but you think children aren’t suffering in Gaza? Famine in Africa? You are a PGA professional living in the US of A. There’s a whole bunch of people that would swap lives with you. What more can you want? And before you nerds come for this comment remember committing suicide is a cardinal sin.

Alcoholism is a a chronic, debilitating, life threatening disease which we as a society refuse to really acknowledge, question or educate about. From suicide to car accidents to sclerosis of the liver: we treat it like candy, not poison.

Indiana Pacers have close connection with the Celtics's legacy. Carlisle was with the Celtics when Bill Walton helped their 86 title. Then Larry Bird was Pacer's coach and took them to the final in 2000.

It is better than it was 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago but men do have it much more difficult than women do as far as struggling with mental health issues when it is made public. Add to that the celebrity or sports celebrity status and it is even more difficult. I don’t want to read any “Boo-Hoo poor men” crap. Stigmatization. It will always be this way. Just the way it is. I would like to think that he did the best that he was able to do until he couldn’t anymore.

Why does that matter to you. Is it all about you then? Your comment makes it seem that way. It doesn't matter how he did it, sadly he did it and his family is suffering. How about focus on yet another life taken by mental illness.

My heart goes out to Grayson's family. He certainly had many positives in his life: a successful golfing career, parents who loved him, and a beautiful fiance who also loved him and still do. Fiance? Hell, I cannot even find a girlfriend; never will either. Anyway, rest in peace Grayson.
