Globally EV and PHEV cars has increased quite a bit, 35% from 2023 (Q1 v Q1), major increase in China, others vary from 5-15 percent. Country by country there are major increases but also decline. So its basic market fluctuation. Why some people are so against electric cars, Ive no idea, but I also dont see why some hate ICE cars.

Battery electric vehicles failed on the market over 100 years ago. They where more expensive than gas cars. They have a range/recharge time problem compared to gas. Battery maintenance is expensive. And none of these issues have been resolved this time around. Same problems 100 years later.

Except that you can drive 400 or 500km on a single charge. You just plug in at night. It is far more convenient. Most people do not travel 400km in a day. Even if you need to fast charge, you just do it when you stop for lunch or dinner. There are cars that are down to 15min of charging. Catl has a battery that charges in 10 minutes that will coming out in the market soon. So it is not the same as all. It took time to build out the gas station infrastructure and now the charging network is being developed. In many ways it is better and more convenient than ICE and much cheaper over the long haul. Cars are coming out now at price parity.

@yodaiam1000 I only look at what is on the market today. Tomorrow's technology may never come. The people who use kilometers make me laugh. You think 500 km is a long distance. Here in the USA, the reason we use miles is that 500 km or 310 miles is a side trip. A real road trip is 1,000 miles.

How is it bad for either? In 2018, when Tesla was a car company that many believed would fail and go bankrupt, and which was not yet profitable, Musk offered them a compensation package that basically promised to meet 10 objective most thought impossible, including increase Tesla's market valuation from $50 billion to $650 billion. If he did not, he would not be paid a single dollar. Shareholders voted overwhelmingly, 73% for the package. True democracy in action. They just revoted on the same issue a second time. Again true democracy in action. Every target was met and Tesla is what it is today, the leading EV maker in the world, due to Musk. Most people see this as an issue of human morality and nothing to do with money. Is a deal a deal? Do you renege on deals? Does your word have meaning? Is your handshake as good as any contract? Is your word your bond? Your response is not just wrong on many levels, but it shows your true character. Your complete local of a moral compass.

@@zoransarin5411 Keep in mind that this "Democracy" you speak of hardly consisted of Tesla Workers, it was the Tesla board consisting of Elon's brother and his best friend along with other Elon appointees. That is why the judge thought it inappropriate, where the boards of publicly traded companies are supposed to be "objective". Even this second vote hardly gave Tesla workers a say. It consisted of stock holders where Elon's friends, family, and other very rich billionaires held the vast majority of the votes. And this is true for most companies. A "board" consisting of billionaires usually decides that most of the pay should go to a few people at the top, and the rest must work for pay that probably won't let them put their kids in daycare while they work. It has been that way since the Pharaohs. It was that way when they passed child labor laws. Also, keep in mind that it was "time" for EVs to come to the fold. This is why I bought Tesla stock. But EVs would have come anyway, with or without Tesla. I have no problem with Elon being a billionaire. With this package, Elon makes 200000 times what his U.S. workers make. And considering the number of Tesla workers, you could say Elon makes more than everyone else put together times 2. And this increases cost when you pay for something. It is the same for Disney, where a large part of your ticket is to pay one guy and the very top executives. And then you have an imbalance when it comes political power. This has been the history of man.

That is just incorrect. The battery is serviced by replacing individual cells. Each cell's health can be tested and also replaced before failure. Cells are not that much money. Replacing the entire battery when only a percentage of cells goes bad obviously wouldn't make sense.

On the charger talk. As an EV owner, the only time I care about DC fast chargers is when I am on a road trip. I think those are best used along highways, I don't see them as being all that useful around town and such. Increased destination charging would be far cheaper, more easily implemented, and more practical. Around town, L2 chargers make more sense. If a restaurant wants to offer charging, DC Fast charging is probably the dumbest choice because it charges too fast. Destination chargers should be L2 At 3:15, YOOO, where do I get that wagon???!!!

Tesla's Model Y, their high end SUV, outsold Toyota's cheapest car - Corolla World wide in 2023. All Gas cars have failed spark plugs with individual coils plus Fuel injection Systems. In combination these items damage Oxygen Sensors and Catalytic Converters, each costing Hundreds. None of these are covered under ANY car maker's Warranty - owners pay for them. They represent the majority of profit for ALL car dealerships. EVs have nearly ZERO service items. Its Dealers that aren't selling EVs - not low demand.

Even if you find a place to charge, you're going to sit and diddle around 2-3hrs for the battery to charge! Batteries made for specific vehicle, and there's no guarantee that they will have a replacement battery pack when the original dies eventually and at what will replacement battery cost?
@BeerWagoon
@BeerWagoon 19 күн бұрын
This is simply wrong on the charging front. Now this is much easier, I believe, for Tesla's because Tesla has committed many resources to expanding charging infrastructure. On the battery replacement part, this will be an issue but not insurmountable. What we don't really know yet, is exactly how long theses batteries are going to last and what the replacement cost will be. It is also important to compare that figure to what potential gas engine/trans replacement costs are.
@ElectricDaily_
@ElectricDaily_ 19 күн бұрын
Okey cool
@tech29X
@tech29X 19 күн бұрын
@@BeerWagoon We know the replacement cost for the battery pack and it's comparable to the price of a brand new gasoline engine car. The life expectancy, is about 6-7 years after which battery pack drops below 80% of it's rated capacity. Why 80% is important criteria, because essentially more than 20% of the battery pack becomes "dead weight" and all efficiency calculations are thrown off. A typical battery pack weighing in about 1000LBS, you are essentially carrying 200LBS of dead weight. Compare the cost of a tire for Tesla to a regular IC car tire, it costs almost 4 times more. Why, because it has to be able to carry the added weight of over 1000LBS battery weight. Most other components, steering column, suspension are much more expensive. Factor all those in, and the charging time increases as battery wears out despite the capacity drops! Factor all those in together and see for yourself how delicious that cool aid is.
@BeerWagoon
@BeerWagoon 19 күн бұрын
@@tech29X literally none of what you just said is true. Batteries are warrantied to 10 years. This means they are designed and expected to last more than that. Efficiency does not change at all with different levels of battery degradation. Range decreases but that is not the same as efficiency. Tire costs between comparable EV and gasoline cars is almost identical. In my search, the recommended EV tires were cheaper than the comparable gas models recommended tires.
@tech29X
@tech29X 19 күн бұрын
@@BeerWagoon You don't know what you're talking about. as rechargeable batteries wear out/degrade their ability to store energy diminishes and charging efficiency (the rate/efficiency) to absorb store electrical energy drops and the drop in charging efficiency results in wasted electricity. Also, Google TESLA replacement tire costs, or tesla maintenance, or tesla replacement suspension. All are more expensive compared to IC cars.

this is what happens when a person that has never driven an electric says, I've been electric since 2011 and I'll tell you I never would have saved as much as I did. No maintenance, no oil changes every few months, no break downs, no brakes, nothing, and I always charged overnight, while at sleep so never stopped or got off the freeway to look for a gas station, only stop to charge only on long trips, an electric car is a free car compared to a gas car. with what you save you pay the car. Free car. don't believe this people they are probably paid by the oil companies.
