He's exaggerating. He barely took part in rewrites (as a favor) and according to him specifically asked that he remain uncredited bc even he knew there was no saving it at that point.

@nofxious the crazy thing is, I've been a fan of his all my life. I've had white and nerdy memorized and can recite every word by memory since I was like 15. I have most of his music memorized, but somehow I never knew he made a movie! I couldn't believe it when someone told me, I had to see it. And I was NOT disappointed.

I can't believe you didn't know that was Mike Judge! I mean he's bald normally so I get it, buuut. Add the wig and mustache.. Listen to some old Beavis & Butthead. In particular watch any scenes with Mr. Van Driessen (the hippy teacher). After you watch those go back and watch the scenes with Joanna's boss. I swear you will match the voice up instantly.

Pat is a guy. In the sushi restaurant scene in the movie, his co-workers tell customers they went to the public baths with Pat and reference to seeing him naked and attempt to confirm his gender. There’s a gag where a coworker blocks the translated text which gives the answer to Pat’s gender- but think about it. Which girl would go to the public baths with her co-workers and be seen naked? Pat is a guy. I love this movie. It’s pretty terrible in a train wreck sorta way which I love. I cannot imagine what the script was like before Quentin Tarantino allegedly re-wrote it.

@@Ottophillol no the whole point is a one dimensional gag - where people are 1) trying to figure out Pat’s gender based on clues Pat inadvertently gives 2) trying to get Pat to admit his gender - that’s it. If Pat was non-binary, “they” would address this whole thing by saying, “I’m non-binary” - either way I LOVE Pat- the feeble mild likable Pat from SNL and the egotistical, narcissistic, toxic Pat from the movie

Money is not the root of all evil..it the LOVE of money that’s the root of all evil…at several points in the movie they could have left the money alone and walked away with their life and morals in tact. The Sydney character seems to represent satan (not a hitman) because he has the supernatural ability to come back to life..knowledge of the characters pasts..also the way he sows doubt and confusion amongst the friends and the way he uses them to carry out his agenda…Oh and the movie title Bad Shepherd also points to Sydney being satan…(Jesus is sometimes referred to as the GOOD Shepherd) The girl with the money was one of his demons (helpers) which was evident when he reset the scene at the end & she came back to life. It also seems like he ended up converting Paul into one of of his demons because Paul seemed to be a person of good moral character but was flirting with sin by hanging around / doing business with people with questionable moral character thus opening himself up to be used by satan.

Admittedly the music video does slow down the pacing of the movie but on its own, the video is cool because it is almost a shot-for-shot take on the Dire Straight's "Money for Nothing" video, even using the same computer graphics used in the original video.

@@AlwaysSomethingPodcastofficial Agreed. I think I read somewhere, too, that this was kind of the studio's idea where they said there needed to be a music video parody in it because "that's what 'Weird Al' does" so it was kind of put in out of pressure.

Regarding the arm, yes, I noticed that every time. My theory has always been that it may have been similar to what happened in Evil Dead II where Ash is in the basement collecting the pages that were thrown down there, and one shot you see Ash picking up papers with his right hand, which was already cut off. That incident I believe was because for some reason they needed to flip the scene so that he was moving from left to right on the screen and in doing so, his wrong hand was being used.
