You apply 2 coats . Weak wall. Won’t ever be guaranteed by British gypsum as this is the wrong way to plaster . Idiots . Just muppets trying to make more money doing a shitter job

One coating a gritted wall is ridiculous. The time you save is not much for the hassle of sponging, and I’m sure the finish isn’t great
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot26 күн бұрын
And to say sponging is making a second coat is untrue, you’re just livening up the solitary coat and spreading the fat around

Plasterers using this sponge method will find themselves out of work soon because of the current trend of under floor heating and liquid screeds!too much water ends up on the floor, delaying the setting time of said screeds which can't be tiled until fully dry!builders don't like it, it slows down projects!crack on more work for me!I've replaced 3 Plasterers doing this for this reason alone

If your only 1 coating? Will job get done twice as fast? I’m desperate for a new build to be plastered , just carnt understand why a tiny wall as taken 2 men to do? Does that mean you charge half price? If your only doing 1 coat with a 2 coat plaster? So half a job! Also waking finish up with water aka a sponge does weaken the finish plaster. In fact I’m sorry I’d rather get some1 who knows about plastering, it’s embarrassing this shit, you should be ashamed

Sorry don’t see the advantage of this method Could have laid this meterage on in the same time with hand board and trowel without the hassle of setting up the machine and with none of the spray drift on the floor
@Happytruth Жыл бұрын
Skimming all over the coving and in the angles, excessive water use with spray bottles that just aren’t needed. Who ever thought of sponging plaster is a retard you can finish it better and quicker with a trowel and I bet the finish on that walls crap with green grit showing through in places.

Hands killing work. Just sand it with Planex. And you can afford, spray the plaster on the wall.

Whats the point in going through all that trouble to spray it all on if you are just gonna sponge it up anyway. Surely your using as much energy as you would troweling it on flat in the 1st place??

Is metal spatula beter then plastic? What is your opinion?I'm thinking of buying OX speedskim spatula
@london-plasterercom2 жыл бұрын
This is down to personal preference.. only thing with metal spats is the tend to warp and lose there shape. The other thing is it can draw the water out to the surface and can increase setting time.. i personally prefer plastic, the more rigid versions made by Refina, as they tend to hold there shape and last the longest.. they are a bit more expensive though. But if your starting out the plastic Ox Speedskims are good.. then maybe can look to add to your arsenal of tools in time. I hope that helps!

The amount of hate these guys are getting is stupid and after years working with many plasters onsite i know most if not all will 1 coat if they can and the situation allows. ive seen the same hate from plumbers towards plastic plumbing until its suits them !!!

The efforts and expense people go to to avoid 2 coat skimming a wall is mind boggling
@rustyr50493 жыл бұрын
Well, I have been plastering for over 40 years, the whole point of two coat skim is any imperfections are not rectified with one coat, the only time I will one coat is in a cupboard, the one coat stem is crap
@paulnaylor60353 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong I've changed recently to using speed skim ox rules and 2 x coats always sponging after the second coat flatten with speed skim and using flexi trowels and when all said and done put a level on it when finished and that's what they aren't showing you ,you would be shocked high and lows all over and internals like skate ramps it isn't the be all and end all if you want it flat and I mean flat then you have to go back to basics because sponging and spats don't get it flat check your work at the end and you will see I'm right and rwo guys on this wall 18 sqm ?? Enough said

Nice job. A lost art in the states though. Plaster is a thing of the past. Lath, brown coats, and much more. Too expensive nowadays. There’s some out there but it very far and few in between sort of trade.
