BREAKING NEWS!!!! Potato farls are an Irish, not a Scottish invention....'Potato Scone' doesn't even make ANY sense...FOOLS😔

Breaking news. Many people in Scotland are Irish and also... Many in Ireland are Scottish.
@Beruthiel452 жыл бұрын
@@cornishpasty4344 Quite right. And anyone who knows their history would also know that the Scoti were originally a north-eastern Irish tribe who migrated to south-western Scotland and ended up giving their name to the whole country. Which is why they have much in common with the Irish. Says I, a Geordie with both Irish and Scottish forebears. 😉

They are tattie scones in Scotland not farls. Since he's Scottish he's making tattie scones

@@ian436 Moron. Read my initial comment. Just because Indians make a chicken curry, they DON'T CALL IT A CHICKEN CURRY. They refer to a Chicken Madras, chicken Biriyani, chicken jalfrezi...Stupid, stupid comment

Yes finally a video that shows you that the scones must be thin. BUT - they need to stay whole and rolled up, not cut into quarters.

A wee bit on the thick side.I make them thinner and less oil.Just enough oil to stop them sticking.Lovely with grated cheese on top and grilled then served hot with a shake of pepper on top.
@b.r.91716 жыл бұрын
I just saw the Irish scones are about double in thickness :). Both taste so good with butter or cheese on top :):)
@Bonypart3 ай бұрын
Thick? Listen to what he said. Roll out the dough from ONE to TWO millimetres thick. That's about the thickness of the pancakes they serve in Chinese restaurants when you order crispy duck in pancakes or even the thickness of a credit card. And you make them thinner? They must end up almost see-through!

Never realised how simple these were to make, I saw another recipe that suggested using 1 egg in the flour mixture but most agree that it's just mashed potato, flour, salt and baking powder ... any thoughts?

No baking powder at all needed, try only potatoes salt oil or butter and flour :)
@b.r.91716 жыл бұрын
If you ad an egg to the mix (some even add milk and egg to it) you need so much more flour wich is not necessary at all
